Love the '70s SS's myself, beautiful looking machines and the Hailwood replicas (don't tell kickaha).
Will be going on the Friday with the mrs, though lets face it its still five months away.
Sucks about your tank. Wouldn't a sealer (Kreem or similar) be up to the job? Didn't realise your fuel pump was dicky either. 1800 is pretty steep.

Na it was way past sealer mate, blew it out which revealed heaps of holes in a line, best thing i could do was solder it up,came up nice but methinks it wont last forever,The fuel pumps fine,TLs have a funny set-up where the fuel pump goes up into the tank and is a complete bastard to seal so i am not going to put a 10 year old pump into a new tank, not to pissed off about it as 10 years of ownership its the only thing thats ever gone wrong with it.The other option i guess is to put it on the back of the ute and take it over, least i could do a day trip whilst over there eh.A couple of pics, before and after solder, sorry all this i a bit off topic. The white stuff inside the tank is the sealer stuff you speak of,tried it before i worked out how bad it was.

Should last longer than the tank me thinks, looks like you have spent the time and done a good job of it. This tank rusting seems to be common to some manufacturers and there are a lot of them that produce service kits of a two part epoxy that you slosh around in the tank, it coats the surface of the tank, but it seems that they are never done or if done are done incorrectly. I prefer to get the radiator repair guys to do mine, they acid etch the tank this cleans the rust and prepares the tank for the epoxy, then they use an epoxy the sets clear/grey, this reminds me I must get the Duke in for this to be done.

A "GOOD" panelbeater should have no problem cutting out any rust and welding in a new panel... neat, tidy and leak free, a coat of paint and it's going to be a heap cheaper fix than a new tank etc, other option is a good used tank of trademe or Ebay, should be plenty of Tl1000S tanks about!!

Well its held together for about 8 months ok so far,its a pretty common occurance with TLs,there was one in at the local shop awhile back with exactly the same problem and plenty overseas on the TL site have had it happen, generally in the same spot as mine, though mine also went all round the pump flange. Not being able to see in there means i have no idea where it will go next, nor when:Pokey:though i have applied rust killer and sealer.Even in the first pic you can see the rust along the seam under the holes.A second hand tank is another option as Kwaka Thou said, plenty of guys off the TL site have offered me one but problem is there all getting on and likely to have the same problem.End of the day this all could have been easily remedied if things hadnt got tight at work,i dont have a problem buying a new tank as its not likely i will ever part with the old girl so dont consider it money wasted, just the timings a bit off.Works coming good so will see the summer through with this one and replace it next year. Will see how i go,might just hope for the best and ride the thing over.Cheers for your thoughts anyway guys.

I am thinking that the main reason could be that when you click on the calendar date it automaticaly registers you, seems to be what happened in my case anyway.
I briefly passed through the rally last year, and since learned about this event hence I am planning on being there in person this time around... looking forward to it, and spending time amusing the crowds. :scooter:

hey peeps Mrs Shrek was talken to the camp lady the other day & want to know what sort of drinks you want so that they can order in
the above prices were as at march 09 will get Mrs S to ring & see if this has changed
cheers :apint:
Anything i don't have to carry with me will be good, and if those prices are still on it will be good. I like wine of course but Woodstocks would be great as well. That is white or red wine, but scummy and I have tried Canadian Club with giner ale and it seems nice also!;)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not worried about the gravel being too difficult - I'm worried about my fairings ;)
...and if I am going to travel a longish distance on the motard I'd be looking at adding more fun stuff to the route. There's a Rainbow Road detour which hasn't been done yet I believe... amongst other things.

Sure, I'll bring enough aspirins that we won't have to listen to yer whinging during breakfast. No worries.
As for my type - how would you begin to have the faintest idea? I have a feeling I'd be a poor man indeed if I had to restrain my social interactions to what you consider my type. There's this new thing called "perspective", you should try it once - and it doesn't even require a prescription. Although getting one and keeping one isn't quite the same thing.

Anybody traveling Via The Lewis Pass on Friday afternoon?
Or
Are there any plans for a group ride from CHCH over Arthers Pass on friday arvo?
I would much rather travel with others than alone, last year was a fooking long ride on my own,
I can adjust my time of leaving work on the friday to suit catching up with a group going in either direction, althought the Lweais would be my prefered route.
