Boring stuff about your boring life.
After yesterday’s delightful ride, it was easy to gear up again this morning for the Uly Long ride to Apiti, except today I needed the wets as well. I was up and away by 0900 to fill at BP Mana and when I got there, I received a text from Ken to say “My girl won’t start this am. Battery I think. If I get going I’ll catch youse up.” Needless to say, he didn’t, ....and as an ex teacher of teachers, I feel he needs a visit from the BDOTGNZA’s!! Really Ken, with an ‘e’ on the end, yous will end up sounding ...
Forest’s Mum was right, sometimes you bite into one and it tastes like crap! This time last week I thought I was about to get a new-beaut black beauty ST. I had requested the dealers bank account details to transfer the pingers, bought a new Shoei Qwest helmet in matching black and some scuff stuff to put straight on when I took receipt. I’d organised to get some reflective pin striping done on the bike and helmet and I was preparing for a prolonged diet of boiled rice...at least ...
My blog has a theme that at times addresses OCPD, and now that I have purchased yet another motorcycle for this summer (and yes it is a "keeper") I thought it appropriate that I provide a few insightful comments relating to not only my condition but also motorcycle riding safety and a review of another theme "Shit Happens". The Sunday Morning Rides Program for 2011/2012 is a ways and means of providing a forward looking program and hopefully encouraging responsible riding attitudes as well as the ...
GC Mode! I love switching into GC Mode and letting the K’s roll off the rubber. With the Grand Challenge (1,000 miles in 24 hours) looming at the end of October and me having done very little riding, today I decided to go for my first conditioning ride in order to harden up the butt and try to get the mind and body into the endurance groove. It was a last minute decision to do this, so it was to be a solo ride and to expedite matters, I just pulled an unused 1,000Km ride plan and ...
After another couple of quiet winter weeks, we broke the rides drought with a local poker run ride today. Don’s usual format for poker runs includes a bit of orienteering to find innocuous landmarks to obtain answers to trivia we should all know....if we’re drinkers of Tui!....which reminds me....did you know what Henry Wagstaff invented? Anyway, last week, after a short Rodeo practice session with a half dozen riders, I needed a blowout so I nipped over the hill to visit me mum. ...
Today was programmed as a SH2 Claytons Ride. For those who weren’t around in the 1970’s, try looking here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claytons , so it’s the ride you have up SH2, when you’re not actually riding on SH2!! The plan was to ride through Greytown, then deviate around Carrington, take the Masterton bypass and Loopline through to Mauriceville, cross SH2 again to go around Eketahuna through Nireaha and exit at Mangamaire. From there we would emerge at Balance, then depending on time, head ...
Last night I looked back over one of my summary blogg entries: A Review The End Of Daylight Saving 2009-2010 The review was written when I had just sold my previous bike. Since that review was written over 15 months ago I tend to think that there has since been a gradual shift in group riding attitude and also focus being made upon positive aspects. Last year BRONZ - Wellington picked up the ball and ran with Tuesday evening rides for novice and ...
No matter how I try to express my positive and supportive comments, that of themselves may appear to deride the overall tenet of Ulysses, my comments are intended to be provocative and also to be in a healthy context. It is and never has been my intention to decry Ulysses. But, when I see there is a need for positive encouragement and reinforcement of motorcycle safety then I will never take a backward step. Where we have the ability, the strong and positive encouragement, to improve ...
