Boring stuff about your boring life.

  1. Snoop bloggy blog

Its dead, the Spartan, it no longer runs like it used to, in fact it no longer runs at all. It's dead. Fuck. You no longer have a motorbike.

For the past 3 ? years You have let it fall into a shabby state of dis-repair, shame on you, BUT, it's done, short of selling your soul and alot of semen that's how it's going to stay.

So what can you do ?

First things first, don't cry into the breast milk, it's your fuck up to bear.
Second, get rid of the ...

  2. How to embarrass yourself in front of a truck driver

I was filtering between two lanes of stationary traffic today, at a red light. There was a light truck in the right lane, positioned all the way to the left of his lane. As I got closer I realised there was no way I was going to be able to get my mirror past his mirror, so I was going to be stuck between lanes when the lights changed.

But as I came up beside the truck, the driver saw the problem. Next thing I know his mirror was making a whirring sound and folding forward out ...
  3. Kiwibiker, how do I love you?

In a multitude of ways it seems.

The Good: The flood of offers to help fix up the Kwaka after my spill. Lots of guys all wanting to help out, lots of advice on dealing with insurance companies and the like. I'm not one of those cynical twats who thinks that it's by virtue of my feminine nature that's made people want to help out, I am genuinely thrilled at how people here are so keen on bikes and getting people on them

The Bad: I'm not sure how it's gone on here ...

  4. Thanks Mr White Van Man (29 Jan 09)

Yesterday I left work early to go to a job interview. When I went out to my bike the back tyre was flat. I rode carefully to the nearest petrol station (in Wairau Road, Glenfield) but as soon as I put air in I could hear it hissing out again! I went inside the station to use the phone book so I could call and explain to the interviewer why I couldn't get there (interview was downtown.) By now I was feeling a bit hot & flustered and not sure what to do next.

    There were ...
  5. Anyone for Tennis?

This relates to 25/01/09 but I've been a bit busy to blog

For the second year running, we returned to the Aussy tennis Open this week. Plenty of hot days (40° on the Tues), lots of walking, lots of tennis and lots of food. Qantas, on the other hand, left much to be desired!

We booked awhile back on a direct flight from Wellington to Melbourne and thought nothing more of it, until a mate mentioned to check our flights as Qantas had changed some flights. Sure enough, ...

  6. The journey and The Choice

Well, what can I say except..."Why didn't I get into this motorbiking caper earlier".

What an absolutely fantastic and exhillarating 13 months it has been.

    The Beginning, L Plate Time

After listening to a work colleague talk at me constantly with stories about his adventures on his various bikes. And the simple fact at the time that petrol was on the rise, add in the cost of parking, I decided to investigate the possibility of getting a motorbike... ...

  7. A Cross To Bear

Shortly after Grub died in November, Nasty mentioned she planned to get a road cross made up, so Steve and I were both more than happy to escort her up to the crash site when it was made and that came about this weekend. The cross was ready over a week ago but Steve has been pretty busy so it was decided that Saturday would be the day, even though the forecast didn't look too great.

Fortunately, as the day drew nearer, the weather wasn't looking too bad so Nasty headed up to Wanganui ...

  8. Contrasting Kaikoura and Kumara

Eager to get to the West coast I watched the weather while spending a few days in ChCh. When it looked like the winds were changing and the West clearing I picked a day to go, but had a day to kill. I decided on an overnight trip up to Kaikoura. The ride up was sweltering, record temps recorded in Canterbury. I drove to the mouth of the Hurunui R. because it was known for Salmon and trout fishing. I almost spent the night there, but some folks camping there knew nothing of Salmon, so decided ...
