  2. Love/Hate Ducati ownership

I've written about my love/hate relationship with the Ducati before, but it has reached epic proportions this time.

Bike has 33,567kms on the clock.
It is due a chain and sprockets, but thats not the kicker.
It has had its starter rebuilt (yet only 32k when it was done? shit!) but I have been told that the high compression makes these motors harder on the starter to turn over.

Now I love this bike to bits, even though I have tried selling it twice, I end ...

  4. Morocco and beyond

A New Year. A new challenge. That means a new motorbike tour.

Regular readers of this forum may recall my contribution last year, detailing my 21,000 km , 22 country swing through Europe on my 2008 Suzuki V Strom 650.

I finished the blog by hinting I was contemplating a tour of Morocco and Turkey in 2012. Well I have contemplated and I am off in April 2012 for a four month tour. This year the trip will not be entirely solo as a couple of friends want to join ...
  5. Wgtn Uly Christmas BBQ

Today was the Wgtn Uly end of year / Christmas BBQ. It is normally just a BBQ near Rivendell at Kaitoke, but this year we incorporated a local ride and some Slow Handling, so we changed the venue to Karori West School.

I had a quick look at the site yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to see we had enough space on the tennis courts to set-up three courses, instead of just the one I had been planning, so I rang Ken this morning to advise that I would miss the ride and go direct ...

  6. Exploring the Marlborough Sounds – The Weekend (10-12/12/2011)

    Saturday

The reason for fitting the dual purpose tyres was a weekend of exploring the Queen Charlotte and Pelorus Sound. I’ve been around the Nelson-Picton area several times already, but normally on tight schedules, going up Takaka Hill, across to the West Coast or heading south to Christchurch.

This time, I guess I could have done a couple of long days going down the west coast for example, but I’ve done most of the roads before, and will do a lot of them in February. ...

  7. Riding for Work – 3rd times the charm? (08/12/2011)

Once again, I was tasked with the burden of work requiring me to be in Wellington for the Friday, to complete some new computer installs and some other items. With the staff in Auckland for the company function I would be left to my devices (and make sure it was all functional for their return on the Monday morning).

The boss was prepared to fly me down to Wellington and back on the day, but it would mean a long day… and oh wait… no riding. He knew I would prefer to ride (is there ...
