Hi all An email reply from the AA Policy and Advocacy Manager... .................................................. .. Hi Ken Thanks for the link, interesting take by Jim Anderton on the need (or lack of) for any increase. I suspect that this issue has some distance to run as yet, note the Govt will not set a levy till the first quarter of next year. I have since we last emailed met with Nick Smith and advised him the AA believes ...
Well today I finally selected an insurer for my ute, contents etc. It turns out that Kiwibank (underwritten by Tower) were $30 a month cheaper than anyone else and that’s comparing apples with apples. Once I agreed to go with Kiwibank I immediately contacted AA Insurance and cancelled all of my policies. When asked ‘why’; I was, as I always am, completely honest. The Operator was not happy as her partner was a rider but she was not aware of the actual impacts so I directed her to ...

Great turnout today in nelson, over 500 bikes, TVNZ coverage and plenty of reporters etc. Good feeling from the public, plenty cheering from the sidelines. Onlookers said it took about 10mins for us all to come past! Disappointing response from the police, no presence at all, no traffic control so we were forced to swamp the intersections. Other motorists seemed pretty sympathetic and waited patently. End result of meeting with Nick Smith is that he says levies ...
Thursday night we cruised around to Brent's place again and did a little bit more. We pretty much just finished off opening the engine up and figuring out what was broken. After flipping the engine upside down we got the sump off and found nothing surprising. The gears in the gearbox were all perfect with no wear of the surface hardening. We couldn't find any sort of residues or bits of things floating around and everything looked like it's an engine that hasn't done all that many ...
Better late than never they say... so I should probably take a little time out to write up my take on the 2009 Grand Challenge. Last year, the KTM was 3 weeks old, with the run in and a few parts fitted in a rushed stressed fashion. GPS had been barely used, and it showed during route planning. Promises were made to myself to know this much better when the 09 came around. True to my pedantic self, I had done more than 20,000km on the GPS since 2008 GC, and knew it muuuch ...
(Continued from Pt 1)............With that done, the usual rituals completed, we were back on our way and I opted to bring up the rear. From my perspective, in these conditions, this is actually the worst place to be because you cop all the crap thrown up from the other bikes. Also, when following another bike at night, my preferred option is to sit close behind within the range of my low beam and ride off the lights of the bike in front, however in these conditions one has to sit back because if ...
