Bike touring overseas.
Hi it is Anthony here from Drury tyres/Drury Performance Centre on Sunday the 24th of July 10:30am we are having another charity ride, meeting at 257 GT STH Rd Drury. This year we aim to purchase a special needs vechicle for Lisa Marie Jeptha, her parents do not own a vechicle and the family would love to get out and about to spend time with Lisa before she passes. Lisa is terminally ill and is not expected to make it to her 12th birthday, she has muscular dystrophy and she is producing ...
In early May I leave the mild winter of the Coromandel to spend three months riding my motorbike around Europe. My route will take me from the UK, through the D Day beaches, down the Atlantic coasts of France and Spain, then Portugal. In mid June I will spend a week or so with friends in Spain, then it is off along the Med Coast to the sights of Italy, ferry to Greece , then through the Dalmatian coast , across to Austria, Czech Republic , Poland then up to the Baltic states . ...
In mid November we attended a family wedding in Melbourne and decided to do a four day tour of Victoria with my sister Annie and her husband Trev on their cruisers. We hired a Harley through Eagle Rider. It was meant to be an Ultra Classic (repleat with comfy seats, passenger footboards - especially for Helen (the wife) and (for a change) a stereo) but the dickhead who hired before us failed to return it and we ended up having to "settle" with a Heritage Softail. Not a bad substitute ...

I've been wanting to do this for a while now, and have been plodding away getting my shit together, but finally, just 12 hours away is the 2 week trip from heaven (at least I hope so). Gear is packed, bike is serviced, map is sorted, Euro's pocketed, Pillion organised.... Plan for the next 16 days is to roughly do a loop from the Czech republic as far south as Greece (should it be safe enough) passing through as many interesting places/countries/etc. as we can handle and eventually ...
We've been struggling a bit to get out on the bike. It seems to be harder to find time and good weather here than back home, but at least we're mobile and having fun when weather and work permits. We did a short run today - maybe around 200km's of the Czech Republics dodgy roads (funny to rip round a corner to have to dodge an open hole (winter was a bitch here and the ice has done loads of damage this year). Its feeling great, being back in the seat after 18 months of winters (winter ...
I am trying to find companies that freight (air or sea) motorbikes from NZ to either US of A or Turkey. I have googled around, but apart from ATF, who said that they were finding it difficult to fnd freight forwarders at the US end prepared to handle bike clearance at the US because of "hassles", I can't seem to fnd anyone else. Does anyone here have experience in dealing with (NZ ?) companies freighting bikes overseas?
Its been hellishly cold here for a few months so have decided I needed to think about something other than the harsh winter and lack of bike or riding weather - so I am sitting here in Prague planning on touring Europe in late May for several weeks. The first thing is the bike (which is to be purchased) and am leaning towards and FJR1300/GTR1400/ST1300 or similar at this stage as I will have the wife on the back. The rough plan is to head south from Czech Republic crossing a few borders meandering ...
