I did the Opotiki to Gissy run a few weeks ago. Part of a ride that turned into 3000km in the rain round the nth isl Had I known how bad it was I prob would have left it til the next day.. 150km in pouring rain in the dark with slips and trees down just took the fun factor away..Would be a great ride in the sun I feel..next time.
Cheers mate, this is good news
Happily, it really is that easy. As long as the bike isn't stolen or anything, you're good to go.
Thanks very much for these detailed instructions Dave. I pulled my front and rear calipers off today and gave them a thorough clean. Took my around an hour but now that I know what to do, I reckon around half that in the future. As for the soap, liquid hand wash soap was easy to mix. Cheers for the blog.
Buen viaje
Riding in the winter around there sounds COLD! A mate of mine rode from wellington to Auckland in the winter once, he stopped for a stretch on the desert road and found the water that had run into his pockets had frozen solid!

Good write up, excellent day. I managed my best time at HD on my 40 year old BMW....need about 10 more HP....50 ain'e enough.
Phil?? I think you're mistaking the photographer for me. I'm sure it won't be the last time he misses the start of a race. Happens to everyone at some point.
Good write up Phil. I was on the pit gate for 1/2 the day and had to hold up young stroudy and co as they had missed the 30 sec interval, bit of a bugger but same for all. All the riders were having a ball and luckily the weather behaved.

The bike has a few farkles: pinstriping, scuff-stuff, side leds, hi-stop on the topbox, stebel horn, headlight guard, radguard, tipover bars, rider seat, heated grips & GPS
great photo's bro and awesome write up...i love the roads you mentioned, my old haunts from 20 years back, got in the saddle after a long week and managed a 3 hour drift in the friggin cold...but shucks it's great to be out and about regardless... thanks for posting and stay upright

I have enjoyed your blog of your ride to Opononi. Glad you enjoyed your chocolate milk at the 4 square as it burnt down in the weekend. The pub was saved. happy riding.
