  3. Short Ride...but a Ride at Least!

A short Ulysses ride was on the plan for today and I decided to turn up, even though the weather was looking like crap.

After getting up late, I was still ready and down at the bike by 0900, but then had to put the wets on and check the tyres. I nearly didn’t bother as they have just been fitted but since the bike has been sitting for over a week and the weather is rather cool, luckily I did as they were both down around 40psi.

That done I popped down to Shell Crofton ...

  4. Specsavers

    Introduction

For the record I am not in their industry. But have been a customer of OPSM for four years. Recently my glasses suffered a lethal accident and required to be replaced. I considered buying of an international website, however now know that this may be cheap but you need some exact eye measurements like distance between pupils etc.

I had heard of Specsavers and was very dubious, as it almost sounded too good to be true. I know if that’s the case then it’s ...
  5. Part 4, and home again.

Finally found the time to write down the events on the last leg of my (short) trip away, being the return trip home from New Plymouth...

Left Dad's place at about lunch-time on Sunday, after a long talking to from Dad about the need for effective wet weather gear when riding... Yup, thanks Dad, I'm sick of being wet and cold and miles from anywhere warm! That said, I'm definitely keen to get my hands on a full new set of 'winter' gear, if anyone knows of where I can get good deals... ...

  6. Choosing a Motorcycle Helmet

    Overview

Rather like emergency braking, a discussion on helmets can be like a discussion on religion. People often take polarised views. Unlike emergency braking you don't really want to practice coming off your bike and having head impacts to test which is the best kind of helmet for you.

So short of repeated practical experience you have to learn a little bit about helmets to help you make a choice that is only like to be tested once.

    One thing you'll notice ...
  7. Night-time Ninjas

    Night-time Ninjas

10.20pm at the SMC flat. ‘Apocalypse Now’ is in full swing, the lounge filled with the clack of approaching choppers. Suddenly, the room is plunged into darkness. The helicopters disappear back to their DVD world and a feeling of great panic swells as one by one the occupants of the lounge realize hat this means. Power cut. How will they get their KB fix now?

Luckily, Squiggles leaps to the rescue. ‘Let’s go for a walk!’ Well, of course. What else ...

  8. Part 3... and a change of plans...

So, got to catch up with heaps of friends in Wellington, between rain-drops - the whole riding in the rain thing kinda sucks when my gear most definitely ISN'T waterproof... This morning, however, God decided to smile down on us and provided an absolutely gorgeous day! Sun shining again, hardly a breath of wind, and I made the decision to head back home early...

The reason for this is that a really good friend of mine in Wellington was really strapped for cash, needed to pay some ...
