  1. Part 2 of the journey...

Part two of my ride was on Wednesday, from New Plymouth to Wellington...

The weather in N.P. on Wednesday morning was amazing, almost too good to leave behind! The sun was out in force, not a cloud in the sky... Got on the road at 9am, for a quick stint to see my Step-Mum at the school she works at, in Inglewood. Man it was good to be out on the road again! Seriously guys, we should all be doing this more often. The absolute freedom is the best kind of stress-relief that I can find! ...

  2. Jake and the Yellow Thingy

Today I experienced something out of the ordinary…..or perhaps more correctly…something I haven’t encountered for about 20 years.

Our normal week these days is for the Moko’, (Avania) to be dropped at the office at 0800 so she can entertain us before I have to walk her to school, which is all of a couple of hundred metres up to and around the corner. We brought her a scooter for Christmas (ensuring it could cope with 100Kg) and she scoots to school (uphill) then hands it over so the ...

    The Bike Arrives...
Picked up the bike rego'd and warranted from the boys at TSS Red Baron and wondered why i didnt get the white one HAHA, seriously the blue one looked cool so we got it in the van and i took it home.
In the mean time i had checked out the MNZ rules in regards to Super Stock setup and made a list of the changes i could do, they included the following:

  4. Birth of and R6 Superstock #1

Most of you will know i had a season ending crash at Taupo last December, when i say season ending i was out of racing for 3 months on Doctors orders and missed the Tri Series, Taupo Endurance, PMCC and NZ Nationals.
After alot of talking and thinking i decided that i would make the next NZ Nationals my ultimate goal and use the year to build up my race craft, riding skills and general fitness.
The biggest decision was do i compete in Super Sport or try the new Super Stock class, the ...
  5. Had my Sym Voger Serviced

Well just picked up my scooter from a service. It was going to be just routine oil & air filter but of course ended up to be more.
    A grand total of $930
The bike had done 12500 km and always been serviced . Had airfilter replaced 6k last time. But this time required the belt drive and variation rollers replaced plus plugs, oil and airfilter. Was this value for dollars for the bike, considering you can now buy a new one for $5990 the ORC.
No complaint against the scooter ...
  6. My First Adventure Ride

    First Adventure Ride.

    Sunday 16th May.

The date of my first off seal ride. Thanks to gpcustom (kiwibiker), I had a shiny new bash plate to go with my way too clean DR650.

I must say I was a little nervous. I was due to meet a few guys from Auckland and hopefully one from Hamilton. It turned out there was three from Auckland, 2 from Tauranga way and two from Hamilton (including myself).

I was due to meet everyone at Te Uku at about 11am. ...
  7. 2 week holiday on the Bike!

Okay, thought I'd write a little down about my journey around the North Island over my holiday...

Got the CBR back up to spec again, thanks to the guys at Cycletreads for the new chain and sprockets, you have restored my faith in people!

Starting from home, on Auckland's North Shore, I left yesterday at about 10am after filling up with gas and packing the minimum gear I figured I'd need into my bag. (Spare change of clothes, shaving gear, laptop, cell-phone, and chargers...) ...

  8. Around and About

We had a reasonable ride this week which was supposed to go up SH1, avoiding Sanson and Ohakea to get to Bulls, then head off through Santoft (a road I haven’t done for 30+ years) then cut across to Ashhurst via Halcombe (204Kms) for lunch at the Fusion café…...but the best laid plans!

The weather forecast wasn’t great for Sunday but I figured, since I haven’t done much riding lately I would see who turned up and go for a ride anyway.

I gave the bike a quick check over ...
