  1. Motorcycle Emergency Braking

Emergency Braking is a contentious discussion topic. Many people have different views - and often they are all right - in certain circumstances. Often views vary from country to country as different methods are taught, and people like to (rightly or wrongly) defend what they have learnt and practised over the years.

    What is emergency braking?
Emergency braking is the act of bringing a motorbike to a complete halt in the minimum amount of distance.

  2. Shock to the System

I'd gone down with a heavy cold and bad chest, so headed up to see my GP. The doc duly examines me, sure thing, a bout of bronchitis. Antibiotics, paracetamol, week off work. Sorted. Hang on a minute he says, I'd like you to go get a Cardio-vascular disease risk assesment done.

Now generally I keep reasonably good health, so I was a wee bit worried as to why a doctor would want me to do that.

His answer was simple. Because you're somewhat over 55. Who? Me? Never. Oh, ...

  4. Man Test

    1. If you are over forty, and you have a washboard stomach, you are a queer. It means you haven't sucked back enough beer with the boys and have spent the rest of your free time doing sit-ups, aerobics, and doing the Oprah diet...Faggot.

    2. If you have a cat, you are a homo. A cat is like a dog, but queer-- it grooms itself constantly but never scratches itself, has a delicate touch except when it uses its claws, and whines to be fed. And just think about how you call a dog... 'Killer, ...
  5. steampunk inspired veteran build

The motor parts have finally arrived
Its a stripped down 16hp 500cc Briggs & Stratton V-twin, the sort of motor used in ride on mowers /golf carts /wood chippers etc
Theres quite a handsome motor under all those plastic & metal cooling shrouds, log manifold & ugly exhaust setup. It reminds me of a Weslake or Godden speedway donk
Ill be doing a lot of work on it including making a new copper inlet manifold , shaving the finns off the exposed bacon slicer flywheel, making another ...

  7. Kawasaki ZXR250C frame

My daughter's CBR250RR was stolen and she/we have bought a 93 ZXR250c (assembled in Malaysia as a ZXR250 C-6 from what I can work out)

It needs a new frame as the headstock is cracked beyond repair. I have seen another post where someone dropped a C motor in as a replacement for an A motor. I have also seen that the frame is different between the A and the C models.

Bottom line question is - do we have to look for a C frame or will we be able to use an A frame with ...

  8. Suzuki vs Ducati

    Which one would you pick?
    A 1983 gsx 1100, or a Ducati 1991 900ss.
I already have the gsx, but MAY be able to swap it for the duke with maybe a cash difference.
The manufactures specs say that the gsx taps out at 222km/h, with 110 h/p, and the duke at 213 with 93 h/p.
I dont know a lot about bikes i just ride them, leaving the fixing part to the experts.
At the moment i use the gsx for weekend cruzing, the ocasional sprint, and hillclimb so i know what its capable ...
