  1. Budapest – 20th – 25th August

The last month is a little out of order, but I'm working on it! So here goes...

I never thought that I would ever see a musical fountain or sing Hungarian karaoke until dawn, but it would seem that Budapest is full of surprises. Then again, I actually had no idea what to expect. With such a blank slate before starting, giant dancing paprikas carteheeling down the street probably would no have fazed me. (Just for the record, we didn’t actually see any giant dancing paprikas, but Budapest ...

  2. Auckland Harbour Bridge

I was riding over the AHB from the North Shore to Central Auckland this morning around 9am. The traffic was unusually heavy for that time, and while I was at the bridge apex it came to a complete stand still.

What a bonus. The view was great. But the wind - it was very blustery. While the bike is moving it doesn't seem so bad, but being stationery at the top of of the bridge was very notcable. The bike was being pushed from side to side.

    Now I think I can appreciate ...
  3. Possible brake upgrade

So, I've been talking to Pete at work and he's got some spare calipers from an RG500 that will fit to my forks.

With the twin pots it should provide much better braking.

I'm also looking at getting an RGV250 master cylinder off him as well to complete the setup.

Now combine that with braided lines and I should have some pretty sweet brakes on this thing...

Of course it's not going to be cheap. I'm starting to realise there's no such thing as a ...

  4. I have actually been doing some stuff on the bike...

Yeah, I know. Haven't posted in a while.

So, what's happened with the bike? Well, so far I've done this:

    1. Completely dismantled the rear caliper and rebuilt it.
    2. De-rusted, sanded, primered and painted the rear caliper torsion bar and front fairing bracket
    3. Used a steel wire brush to remove all of the rust from the exhaust headers.
    4. Removed the rivets from the exhaust muffler shroud, and removed the shroud in preparation for the repacking of the muffler.
    5. Completely

  5. Finally...

Ikasu is running fantastically. Last week I replaced the fork seals and cleaned up the master cylinder. Thank god I did as it's what saved me from certain disaster and great placings during the carnage last Sunday:

First fun race; I finished first from getting a great start, where I was able to shoot ahead of everyone else. #808 did pass me on the last lap but I was able to brake later than him on the last corner. I nearly ended up trying to merge with the back of another bike though! ...
