  1. Week 14 in Germany - 15 July 2009

    15 July 2009

Weekend uni, three innocent people condemned to death, a coffee machine that gives you a deposit back if you return the cup and a touch of sumo wrestling. All within one Saturday. And round and about I also had time to check out the Der Blaue Reiter exhibition in Baden Baden, cook a thai curry and act as the fairy of luck, drawing winners’ names out of a hat. Yep, it’s all happening at the moment!

Perhaps the three innocent people condemned to death part ...

  2. I have my restricted licence now.. Coolies.

I went and did the test this morning, and boy did I pick the right day..

Yesterday the weather was shit, and I still ended up in it, as I had to go in to work.

    But today - great weather...

So did the test out at Westgate, and did my 30 min trip around Massy, and after all that, passed.

So just have to wait for my real licence to turn up.. sweet

  3. Slowly getting there. 11.7.09

    Slowly getting there.
The mounting bracket has been completed for the right side – I’ve made it so I can use the factory rubber grommets to absorb any vibration and allow a bit of movement.

Brackets take a bit of pissing around with – 2 hours went into this one and there is a dud one in the bottom of the rubbish tin!

The left muffler has the joiner and mid pipes fabricated and tack welded together – visibly held held on in the pictures with a bungee strap! The ...

  5. How to get optimum tyre pressure

Bumped into MarkW at the Avondale shops yesterday. Was a perfect day for a long ride, but both of us were just running errands.

I asked Mark to remind me how to determine the optimum tyre pressure for my bike. Here's the formula (so I always know where to find it):

    • Fill tyres up when cold
    • Go for a long ride to warm tyres (at least 20 - 30 mins at motorway speeds)
    • Re-check the pressure when the tyres are hot (using the same gauge)
    • The difference

  6. Week 13 in Germany - 10 July 2009

10 July 2009: Entitled 'On Thursdays and Cuckoo Clocks, Fork Oil and the Signs of Growing Old'

It’s Thursday. I hate Thursdays. Of all the days of the weeks Thursday is by far the worst, like a big black vortex full of nothing-left-to-do-ness squished between the wow-the-week’s-beginning of Monday and the pheeuwph-it’s-time-to-relax of Friday. This is not the sort of thing that one should really admit (especially not before one’s 21st birthday) but I rather ...

so I hear most bins wins huh?
well I guess I'm on the board now
coming through the tristram/cobham roundabout from cobham drive turning right into bridge street, I leaned over a little too far and the scooter decided to say " hey you your a Dick, get off" and dumped me on the ground mid turn.

I was on my feet pretty quick calming down the on lookers, I've bruised my shoulder (and ego) and grazed my knee, big whoop :P the scooter has some scratches along ...

  8. In Review – Newbie Training Update & OCPD Advance Riding & Defensive Riding 2007

by , 8th July 2009 at 15:53 (Motorcycling and An Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD))
In addressing my OCPD, I think my whole approach to preparing for my Full Licence, is not only covered in part by doing the courses below, but also the extent to which I interacted with members of the Kiwibiker community.

Advanced Refresher Course And Defensive Driving Course

    Advance Refresher
Having clocked up 11,000km and taken the approach to my new found riding pleasure, I will undertake the Advanced Refresher course on 3 February 2007 with Andrew Templeton
