1 only brand new Tm 300 2 stroke
  2. We have a seat

This actually turned into a really fun activity; I basically took the seat and lengthened it by 10 - 15 cm, covered it with some pieces of highish density foam and covered it with some vinyl I had spare from covering a seat. While searching for the foam I found a couple of plastic exit signs that I turned into a rear cowling of sorts.

So now at least the back half is starting to look half decent.

I have also started experimenting with carb's ...
  3. More data

This blog is going to be a history of my time with the S4.
But first a bit about me which will go some way to explain why a supposedly intelligent bloke would own a Ducati of any sort.

My 2nd career (I'm in my third) was as an Aircraft Technician. I spent 8 years in the RAF and 5 more in other countries military aircraft facilities.
I was an engine specialist, mostly Jet, which helps not a bit with bike motors, But I do have a good engineering background and have always ...

  4. In the begining

There was a POM who came to New Zealand via South Africa.
In serendipitous circumstances a 49 year old POM, software developer managed to get an invite from the only country in the world that would accept aging POMs.
Australia, which had been the country of my dreams since I was 19, had long since closed the door. A subsequent holiday to Maloolabaa destroyed the dream.

Fast forward to 2001 and finally I got my full bike license, after riding (since I was 16) on a learner ...

  5. Rotorua for the day...via SH43

It's been a month since my last ride, except for a quick jaunt up to Palmy and back for a seminar and a few commutes. I was supposed to go on a Ulysses ride to Pongaroa and Dannevirke today but as it was my daughter's birthday, we rode up to Rotorua to see her instead.

I was supposed to go by myself in which case I planned to do the Waioeka gorge up and Paraparas back, but at the last minute, Ann decided to come and 800Kms is too much in one hit two-up, so we did the Forgotten Highway ...

  6. The List

I am sitting here looking at "The List". If you have no idea what I am on about, then you are one of the blessed ones. The rest of us mortals have one somewhere. On the puter, typed up and in the drawer, written in to the diary. Or as the motivational speakers will tell you to do: On the wall in big letters so you can see it and focus on the tasks. It then apperently becomes part of your subconcious and you will automatically get the things done.

More about that later. But I have ...

  7. god forsaken a rebuild by raining

Well this sucks, the weather is curtailing any work; the joys of unsealed concrete walls.

The other difficulty is an oiling plug; I fitted an air box to the bike and now the spark plug won' stop oiling up.:slap:
  8. The Beginning

Along with many nooby questions asked by yours truely on the KiwiBiker website, I also noobed around all of the bike stores in Auckland, well, most of them anyway. After looking/sitting on/dribbling (good three cups of salliva)/price checks, I finally set my heart on a Honda CBR250RR(R), MC22. I came very close to deciding on a Hyosung GT250R, however countless reviews and feedback persuaded me to steer clear... Steel frame, low power, dodgy braking systems... the list goes on, just not what I need. ...
