After what can only be described as the ultimate procrastination I finally got around to installing the replacement LED strips on my BMW. GiJoe and I had tried to fit them last year and ended up with blown/broken LEDs all round. We presumed somehow the controller failed so I had to order new strips. They arrived earlier in the year but I had been doing other things so they sat waiting. Of course such an install requires some extra spannering hands, so off to GiJoe again ...
My Father took his Kawasaki ZL400 to Maidstone Yamaha and asked them to sell it on behalf-of. After months without a sale I went in to the shop interested in buying a used cruiser myself, they never mentioned my father’s bike saying they had nothing in the cruiser line. I informed my father and he went in to find out why it was not selling and was told it wouldn’t sell that he should try Trade Me. As he was getting ready to take it away he noticed the clutch cover had a ...
Tangier to Istanbul Google says it is nearly 5000 km from Tangier to Istanbul and I travelled the first 2000 km on a big Italian registered ferry. I shared a cabin with three French educated Moroccan business graduates. In their late 20s and early 30s they were quite disillusioned by their lot. Five years getting a qualification from a prestigious French University and for three years they had been trying to get jobs. “ We will go anywhere but we ...
The ride started at 9am on Saturday in Taupo, so a Friday evening trip down was required as I’m probably not the earliest of risers. I’d managed to tempt Devil into doing the adventure ride, but he was so keen he left Auckland at 1530, already packed and fuelled. I was not so lucky, with a day of work to pile through, so left work at 1700 (still early for an average day) and headed home. I hadn’t packed the previous night, so still had all that to do. During the day Devil and I had ...
Bugger. I started the bike up (1 kick!) and started adjusting the curve on the Ignitech. It was liking the advance a lot (about 17° total). then it started running higher in the rev range; about 7000rpm. Shut the throttle. Still revving. Switch off. Still revving. Disconnect all power and computer. Still revving. Pull plug leads off. Still revving. Put foot over tail pipes. Stops. Bugger. Shit. Pull heads off. Bugger.
I would like to invite any and all Kiwi Bikers to participate in this rally to raise food and funds for the Tauranga Food Bank. It will become a new Christmas tradition! Cheers, Paul
The alarm rings at 8am and I'm not exactly jumping to my feet. Not feeling particularly excited either, but nevertheless, after snoozing the alarm for 10 minutes I got up and had some breakfast and got ready. Out the door just after 9am in slightly questionable conditions I made my way out to Westgate. Following on from my blog about having a session with Tricia at Roadcraft School of Motoring, it was now time to start the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) course: http://www.nz-iam.org.nz/ ...
