  2. The long road to recovery

Started rebuilding Zensen's engine last night and with any luck I will have the engine finished in the next day or two. Due to me being paranoid about getting the parts in time before the next round I have managed to end up with a spare conrod, complete crankshaft and piston, rings etc. This is a good thing as it starts to build up spares. I'm debating about developing another bucket using a worked CBR150 engine and putting it into a RS or a RG frame.

Wanisami heart beat is returning. ...

  3. Wairarapa Delights

With TT bookings and plans well underway and the drama of last weeks puncture(s) done and dusted with a new Storm 2 Ultra fitted, Steve & I were off on another ‘Multi-purpose’ ride…..for him it was just a conditioning ride for the Southern Cross, but for me it was conditioning for the TT2000, testing/familiarization for the GPS and the wish to put 2000Km on the bike to do the 108,000Km service and change the front tyre prior to the TT.

The various requirements meant that perhaps something ...
  4. Cam timing FXR150

Amazing ! bucket racing has come a long way since I was involved. I once new a fellow who bought a hot cam for his CB 125, fitted it and found the engine wouldnt turn over. So he fitted another head gasket till it did.NFI

I made an adaptor for my small plunger DTI. The DTI was a snug fit in the adaptor with a small grub screw to lock it in position. I unscrewed the stylus from the end of the DTI and made a longer replacement from bright shafting (maybe 4mm), A screw thread on the ...

  5. A switch replaced requires East Cape (05/02/2011)

Well… perhaps it doesn’t. Some would say it’s possible to get to Mount Maunganui without going round East Cape, from Auckland. This is doable when there are plenty of other things having high priority, but when you have to be in the Mount at 9.30am, it requires an early start, so that in turn requires a reward, aka, nice long ride since you have so much day left.

A couple of weeks previously I noted the fog lamp switch was playing up, sometimes turning on, other times not, or on, ...

  7. Normal service resumes (30/01/2011)

After the distractions of Christmas, then changing bike, three weekends ago was getting the new bike, putting the Givi items on it, then two weekends the weather was terrible, so I caught up on my blogs.

This long weekend just past was finally a proper opportunity to get out and clock up some km on the BMW. This started perfectly on Saturday working all day… wait… that wasn’t the plan. I had to baby sit a server through some issues so did some catch up on blog posts. ...
