I learned a very long time ago never judge a book by it,s cover I used to work for a guy who looked like he was starving to death, same clothes, real shit car then one day he turned up in his helicopter with an envelope full of cash to thank me and the other lads for the job we had done![]()
Yes and no
I spend my money and enjoy life with it, no point saving like hell and being miserable, then you drop dead...
one day at a time is how i live, for me it works. I have medica conditins that coud drop me off the perch at anytime so i'm living it up while i still can.
First off, sorry you got some abuse and red rep- glad to hear you are not going to worry about it.
I don't think bike & income can be linked. Priorities determine a lot... poor person can be determined to have bike and save to get it. Rich person may decide to get swimming pool and buy cheap bike.
No. What makes me laugh though, is the people who have to be seen on the flashest, most expensive bike, live in a half million dollar house that's actually owned by the bank, boast about their income...then see their empire crumble with the economy.![]()
It's all about choices i recon !
I'm at the stage of life, where SOME would say i should be settled and in my own home rah de rah !
My income is SFA at the moment, but i have a bit of money stashed away, which subsidises the income (should read subsidised)
I decided after splitting the last matrimonial property up, that i was gonna enjoy life for a few years and own bikes rather than my own place ! So thats what i've done !
Two late model bikes, one for road, one for racing and i just purchased a classic for a restoration hobby !
(edit: Nah gonna race that fooka too)
It has knocked a hole in my investments which means my lifestyle gets a little knock, (just a little) But that is two words aye and what is life without style ?
If you were to walk into my home you wouldn't say i was wealthy, shit my entertainment centre (tv stereo pc) was given to me 7 years ago when i first set up flat after being overseas and still all go so why replace em !
I won't try and keep up with the jones's, be more likely to piss in his back pocket than try and impress him !
I drive vehicals that most would balk at ! Most i've ever paid is 4 k for the van which i now drive to carry my race bike to the track !
The rest i have never lost money on, (if you work on the assumption that a car devalues at around a thou per year !)
The more ya earn the more ya burn !!!
I have had a salary in excess of 100 k, but chucked it to enjoy the job which i earnt 40 k (It was only an injury that stops me doing it now !) and the lifestyle hasn't really changed at all !
So I vote no ! Anyone who judges a book by it's cover (or ride in this instance) is as shallow as a teaspoon !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"
Bowls can wait !
Well, as y'all know I'm just a poor impoverished old man ekeing out a penurious and frugal existence on the smell of an oily rag.
So, I need to have old clunkers, cos new bikes don't have oil leaks, and then how would the rag get oily? I'd starve if I had a new bike.

A persons bike may be indicative of income, someone who buys an MV as a communter for instance?![]()
Some people though have different priorities to the norm. I knew a guy who owned a tidy Goldwing. He owned nothing else and lived in an establishment that was pretty close to being a half-way house. That Goldwing was the most important thing in his life.

I luvvies my ol'clunkers and smokers I does!If you love your ride for what you ride it for, then that is the best possible of worlds ...
Stuff the knockers and just get on with your life I says!![]()
"I like to ride anyplace, anywhere, any time, any way!"![]()
Its a broad generalization, but of course it does.
Hands up those who, if the had available disposable readies, would up grade their bike?
I would be shocked to find a busted seat o the pants student, riding around on the latest top shelf bike and likewise a high income earning sports bike fan getting around on a GN 250...
