Oh I am so tempted. But you ride a GN and so deserve gentleness. So, retro me, Sathanas.

Yes. Motorcyclists do use a variety of signs to impart information to other bikers.

There are local variations, but, in general:

A simple wave or nod of the head . Hi there , good to see another biker, it's all clear ahead.

Arm stretched up in the air vertically and revolving (like the flashing light on a cop bike) : OR : repeatedly slapping top of helmet: Cop ahead.Or, maybe, following you.

Arm pointing down toward road, and moved in a wavey motion: Something bad on the road - diesel, gravel, dead possum. Slow down and watch out.

Arm extended sideways and moved up and down : Slow down , danger ahead.

Arm extended straight ahead , palm outward, in a "stop" sign. Stop. NOW.

Pointing at your bike and waving. Your rear wheel has fallen off.

Tapping petrol tank (usually given to a riding partner). I need to stop for fuel.

There are others. Those are universal.

Just try not to wave to Harely riders, you'll only get an evil stare back.

I've been using this sign more n more these days.

Apparently most cagers cannot see an approaching motorcycle until said sign has been deployed.

Then they are able to see you instantly and usually acknowledge this by returning the said gesture.

Give it a try next time your out riding you'll be surprised at how effective it is.

Waving should only be attempted whilst countersteering and wearing an inflatable fluoro vest on backwards. USD forks optional.

Flashing your head lamp(s) to alert to Police is universal for cars and bikes.

BUT Ixion's info is great. Thanks
