    what would you do ????

On my way to Pukekohe track yesterday , i thought i would turn of at Drury" and take the back road, going down Runciman Rd" i come around this bend, about 100 K's, and there right in front of me, "are two dogs in the middle of the road" i had about 30 meters to stop, i slammed on the brakes, front locked up , back followed-- i thought ok,,, just pick a side and go for it-- i slammed the throttle back on , and saved myself ,luckily the dogs didnt move much and we didnt cross paths, it all happened in les than 3 sec's, i stopped a bit further up reflecting on what had just happened only to see some "stupid" (in this case "woman") in a car following them, ( she came around the bend a little further up)My QUESTION IS ---

A ) do you just carry on and think oh well "lucky me"!
    B) GIve her the fingers and yell every bad word you ever learned in kindy.
    C) follow her and pull her over , and have a quiet "chat"
    D) something else??

i will let you know what i did a little further down the track? i'd like your opinion nevertheless.!!!

    Dog control

Just remember the "road rule" you must only travel at a speed at which you can stop within half the clear distance ahead. However you have my sympathy and any edjamakating of dickheads in a manner that they actually listen and take the lesson in is one less dickhead to potentialy cause an unnecessary problem to others in the future.

    not the first time !

will be intersted to hear what you did, this is a regular occurance,(sp?) this lady seems to think that she owns the road , and that it is the perfect place to give her doggies a bit of a walk.

Be interested to hear what you did.
I know the rules state you must be able to stop within half the clear distance of roadway, but in reality, who rides or drives like that.

The law has been changed recently to allow farmers to be liable if stock is on the road and they cause an accident. Dogs: stock? Good enough for me and no place for bloody dogs.

If I had been you and after I cleaned the shit out of my leathers, I would have stopped the moron, given her a little more than a quiet chat and told in her not so many words what to do with her dogs and where to shove them next time she takes them for a walk.

Oh, a bill for a new flat spotted tyre would be a good end too.

I concur (hehe always wanted to say that...)

Glad you didn't crash... nice skills...

I rode up that awesome road yesterday too, but at a fairly sedate pace, it is very tempting to blast it up there cos the corners are so smooth but it's fairly residential so i often hold back. A KBer was killed on his bike up there not so long ago, hence another reason why i have slowed down somewhat.

Anyway, if that was me having that close call yesterday I would have probably stopped and given the woman a piece of my mind and the dogs a friendly pat!

I might've either followed her and explained that letting her dogs walk on the road like that is dangerous for other road users and her dogs or I might've just carried on.

    Probably the latter.

Only on single lane roads. On two lane ones it is stop within the clear distance ahead.

Trouble with dogs is they run erratically. Surely the problem will soon resolve itself - someone will come tootling along in an SUV and wipe them out (Mr Motu - you around). Pity, cos I like dogs. Just don't like their owners , often

Ring the SPCA and dob her in (allowing her dogs to roam free), ring council (dog were not under control & tried to attack your bike?) or the ultimate one "ring the cops"

It should be noted however that cases have been tossed out where through no fault of the driver the distance has suddenly been reduced.
    Claim the dogs ran out.

Get her details from her car rego and take them to the local council. That is a very irresponsible way to exercise dogs, she has no control over them in circumstances that could result in a serious traffic crash.

This is what i did, C

I thought to myself Na,,, just let it go-- then thought fuck it" its my f#$@ing life we are talking about " and what about the next biker ???" i turned around pulled up beside her, and told her to wind down the window ( she was reluctant to do that !!), i asked her if they were her dogs, she said she was looking after them for a friend,: i kept calm,,, and told her to get them off the road,, or next time she will have death on her consience, she gave me a scarcastic look and wound her window back up, obviously not fazed by it all,,
after this , i let it go,-- yeah i could have kicked her car, etc etc,, but then i would have got into trouble,, just thought to myself , --be prepared for anything and everything--- and took off to enjoy the day at Puke---
