Unhappy Corner + oil = fence... + writeoff

This happened about mid-May, Been riding for about 2.5 months.
I've frequented KB on my brothers account but never made my own account to post until now. (I'm still without a bike! =( ) Anyways here’s what happened:

On the way home from work roughly lunchtime, I go up the same route I have been going daily since having my bike (hyosung GT250R) - Onslow road in Wellington.

I had a funny feeling as I approached the left corner I usually blast around so I slowed down. Sure enough, as I went around the corner I felt my bike suddenly drop, then my peg had dug in very hard.. I ended up low-siding in front of an oncoming car into a wooden fence. The car ended up stopping and he gave me his business card, but he was in a real rush to get to work or something. I was still a bit shocked at the time so I just left my bike where it was and got on the phone to my brother to come pick me up with a trailer. the amount of people who drove passed was incredible, eyes as wide as saucers (mine probably were too!) gawking at this pretty hyosung jammed into the fence, really annoyed me that they almost caused more accidents on that corner though… anyways, Eventually a guy driving one of those huge cement trucks just parked in the middle of the road, hopped out and helped me pull my bike out of the fence, that guy was awesome.

At first the damage seemed only cosmetic:
The tiny indicator was ALL over the road, the left fairing was a bit scratched and the peg + gearlever got ripped clean off. (I have pictures I'll upload soon)
As for me, I sprained: my left ankle, left knee, left wrist, both shoulders and my back.
I got a nice hole in my dragon jeans (didn’t get passed the kevlar though!), a friction-graze on my knee and my left boot is a bit scratched up. The rest of my gear is relatively untouched, I’m very impressed with it all.

I supposed it was a good accident to have, Came off relatively uninjured, INCREDIBLY lucky (should get into lotto eh?), and now I’ve gotten over the “first accident ever paranoia”, and it certainly hasn’t put me off riding. Although the bank has suffered quite considerably and the insurance sure isn’t happy (I lost a $700 premium, and $1750 excess!). A new shipment of black-hyosung’s arrives in about mid-august, All I need to do is pay Swann the excess and they’ll buy me a new one.

OUCH sums it up nicely, being a full time student and all... The total damage amounted to over $10,000, I’ve yet to see the report (the frame must have been bent). The fence only cost just under $300 to fix, and the bike brand new cost me $6,900 april of this year. Quite funny, both my parents rode bikes 'back in the day, Mum had a celebration dinner that I didn't die O_o, and dad just said He's glad im OK and that "you don't truely own your bike till you've fallen off it".. pitty I killed mine. Friends are still keen to get bikes of their own, I'm sure their parents hate me for it.

Anyways, I’m planning on joining in on the KB road trips as soon as I get my new bike :P (DAMN. I have to break the engine in once again) so I guess I'll see some of you there soon enough!

    [edit]
Here are the pictures, I've reduced them to roughly 100kb each - PM me if the link drops.
"Before" photo, One day after I got my bike. I had already taken it to university and back

"After" photo, enough said. All I can see is cosmetic damage, aparently the frame and the front forks are bent. Maybe the bike shop dropped it when they picked it up from my house?

Detailed shot of where the peg and gearlever used to be

The fence (and letterbox) that got wasted

A clear shot of the road.

Thanks a lot for all your kind comments and welcomes

There's your problem right there! you are NOT SUPPOSED to break them in, just RUN them in! lol

    Your formula is wrong
    Corner + oil + fence = writeoff

Bad luck. Hope it doesn't happen again.

glad to hear you came away relatively un-scathed, sorry to hear about the bike though. just getting into riding myself and am not overly keen about the fact i'm gonna come off one day, however i'm not letting that put me off - far too much fun to be had!

Well, yes, if you maintain that attitude, you will. However, there is no reason at all why you should, if you do not want to.

    $10,000 in damage ?

Hell the bike ain't even worth that ? Hard to see where the 10k is going.

But good job staying with the land of the living, and for getting back on!
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking. Racing around to come up behind you again.
