I am totally gutted. Victor Lima Xray and I may have to part company permanently.
As some of you are aware I have a disability - 10 years ago I had bone removed from several vertabrae in my neck, this was done to decompress pressure that was crushing some of my main root nerves. For those medically inclined the procedure is known as a 'microforamenotomy'. I have osteoarthritis in the spine with cervical spondylosis. The osteoarthritis is a degenerative bone disease and the cervical spondylosis is the constant nerve entrapment 'nipping of the nerve/s'.
This past week I have been to the doctor, physiotherapist, and the swimming centre, as well as taking pain relief medication.
The bottom line is that the cruiser style is definitely a not for me because my feet are to far foreward and I can not take any pressure off my spine.
The Honda Shadow VLX600 will be posted for sale with pictures shortly.
Meanwhile my thoughts are towards bikes with the pegs immediately below the hip, not dissimilar to GN250 eg SV650, ER-N and Z750. [10 months on the GN250 and while there may have been a few niggles the riding ergonomic was just right for my condition.]
I think I may have to bide my time and think about a V-Strom or Versys, they provide higher handle bar configuration and good peg position. Down the track my third bike was in that category that is after the VLX. I didn't think it would come to this so soon. I may jump to the SV650 or Z750, but at this stage I will give it a few weeks to sell the VLX and still go for some wee short rides. I am gutted the shoulder and neck, both are not comfortable to say the least.
I have spent over 20hours cutting back the alloy and polishing the forks and crankcase etc. As well I looked at the bike manual and purchased new front and rear sprockets, chain and new brake pads, all to be fitted at the next service.
I bought the bike from nzcruzer and today we went and took some pictures of the VLX600 and his 750. I am going to miss this bike for sure.
