There is a wider issue at play - like the fact that pay parking at hospitals is an absolute outrage. The whole concept is actually quite sick

Sure... apart from the bit where you were parked where you shouldn't have been?

It's not rocket science. Parking wardens are all covered by employment laws like everyone else, they dont have to stand out in the rain to do their job if they dont have to. Just because you dont have the ticket there and then doesn't mean it didn't happen. Would you put up the same argument with speed cameras?

Is it a council ticket? If not i dont believe they can uphold any fine attached...Was there even a fine?

The new thing is... footpaths are offlimits, everywhere, period.

On a side side note note note, why is KB so lame today? I'm desperate to have to not resort to doing some work, and there's no threads worth wasting mucho time on today...
It's almost as bad as a Choozdy.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

A couple of years ago I had a period where I had to spend a lot of time at North Shore Hospital (not for myself).

I checked out the parking : asked the dudes in the collection boxes. They said "Park anywhere sensible, just ride round the barrier on the way in and out". So I did. Never a problem. A couple of times they even raised the barrier for me .

They prefer you NOT to take a ticket, cos if you do they have one unaccounted for and spend hours searching the car park for the phantom car.

(Incientally, if you are in a cage, and are having treatment, of taking someone for treatment, ask at the reception place where the treatment is for a car park chit. Lets you out for free)

Interesting. I have never seen a ticket attached to a bike with one of those sticky things. Just setting aside the original parking infringement for a moment, I would be furious if someone stuck that to the paintwork of any vehicle of mine. And I wouldn't be any happier if they stuck it to my seat either - sticky goo on my seat and on my gear? They would be getting a cleaning bill for both.

Would they stick it to the paintwork of a car? I don't think so.
Would they stick it to the seat of a convertible? I don't think so.

I would definitely be writing a letter of complaint.

I didn't know that and now that I do I'm quite pissed about it! FFS paying for parking at a hospital is absolutely bullshit! that's the last thing on someones mind when they're visiting sick relatives etc

Curiosity was framed; ignorance killed the cat

Teach its owner to fix it and it'll break in some way you've never seen before.

That's actually an interesting point. Who does own the land and who is responsible for issuing tickets?
Do the road laws automatically apply just because there is a foot path there? If not they should have it sign posted shouldn't they?

I agree with short-circuit ("I'll take 'phrases I never thought I'd say' for $200, Bob")

I just ride around the barriers. Except at Auckland, where they have designated bike parking by the back door.

From memory, a "road" is anywhere with public access (mall carparks, etc). Which I think it technically, the BHS course is meant to be done in a closed off yard.

Hope your paint is OK. And your mate.

It's a bit of an odd one for north shore hospital. Because of its location the parking can be (and was) abused. They put barrier arms up because people were using the whole thing as a thoroughfare to skip through from the shakespeare road side to the taka side.

What he said. If they're not a Council Parking Warden they have no authority to issue fines.
If it wasn't for a concise set of rules, we might have to resort to common sense!
