Some people manage to spend their whole lives blaming all their misfortunes on everything and everybody else.

They usually end up by the age of 45 living in a council flat, broke, never held a job for very long... any vehicle they had didn't last long... like their relationships... and the only thing they have to look forward to week after week is bullshit sessions with their other loser mates going on and on about how shit and unfair the world is, over some Jim Beam's.

Don't we bikers go to a bar for a drink after a meeting? Even after a learners event such as AWNR? And who are we to tell him about drink driving? Well he just left the bar abit early, but hey! We once did that too didn't we?

Well if you didn't, you are a bloody legend. But that doesn't mean you have the rights to criticize him "Oh hey hey! I didn't drink and drive! I'm better than you!" does it?

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

we have the friday night rides down this way in the summer and every week it ends at a bar somewhere.

Even if I am generous and go along with the 'bad luck you fell off' idea the rest of it is self inflicted. That is the stuff you have to face up to, try and learn from and move on. Accepting responsibility for your actions is part of growing up.

Life is going to throw all kinds of shit your way, it how you deal with it that matters.

If by that you mean he has the chance to change now before it just becomes who he is well, i suppose we'll see, he managed to clock up the 100 without learning...

As for the accident, ya look down ya go down, take that onboard and practise practise practise.

Hahah, self righteous. That's me to a tee.
Stupid shit endangering others = DRIVING DRUNK. Are you fucking kidding me?
I'm the first to admit I've got a long way to go in this motorcycle game we play, but I sure as shit don't increase my chances of stupidity by actively going out of my way to do incredibly stupid acts.

It's cool that you're defending your fellow biker but I think it's blinding you from the fact that, compared to this guy, yes, some of us ARE saints. Feel free to get some character references from people who ride with me

In which case I would say his girl friend leaving him was good luck.

The rest was self inflicted, but it does appear he may be willing to learn from his mistakes.

Perhaps, now that the errant gentleman has had his personality defects and character failings sufficiently pointed out to him, (motorcycling being, as we all know, the high holy place of the spiritually spotless), someone might help him with some practical observations of how he might handle such problems in the future?

Starting with : only a very expereinced rider can look at the ground by his front wheel and not end up there (this has been mentioned but rather got lost in the serminising)

And : Motorcycles are not good under heavy braking. What we are very good at is dodging and avoiding. Those who come late to riding tend to bring cager instincts with them - in emergency stand on the brakes and pray. Those do not always serve them well on a bike. There is almost always (there are exceptions) *somewhere* to go where the danger is not.

But, if you have already expended all your traction budget on braking you have none left for turning , and attempting to swerve will almost certainly mean a front wheel wash out , something that even the most experiened rider will struggle to control.

Braking should be primarily to buy some time to identify the bolt hole that will take you where the danger is not. And not so heavily that there is no budget left for swerving.

I must caution that this is heretical. But it has stood me in good stead for over 40 years.

Just to clear some things up. I did not drink and ride it was in my cage was a completely different time then my ticket which was on the motorway following cars.. Not saying that this is in anyway okay.. I am a fuckwit for drinking and driving I wasn't aware that 2 drinks over 4 hours would have put me over..

I thoght the reason I have an L plate on my bike means im a LEARNER

I am truely sorry that my riding isnt up to the standards of some of you guys that have been riding for years... Guess I wasnt born with a motorbike helmet like some of you guys seem to have been.

None of you know me apart from a few post I have put here.. It is easy to judge sitting behind a keyboard..

Another thing everyone has come in to judge me.. Has anyone asked if im alright? I think not.
I'm okay by the way in case anyone is wondering.
Ladies, if a man says he will fix something, he will fix it. You don't need to keep reminding him every 6 months
