The only good thing about the Glenorchy Rally is the ride there and back and the Friday nights we have in Queenstown. Suppose I should mention the company as well...

The Brass Monkey is definitely the best rally for me.
Some of the best entertainment is to be had wandering about the drum fires.

T.I.E was mutterring about a new back tyre when I stopped in for a coffee at his fab establishment last weekend, so I guess he has some more money to spend !

Before the advent of Drum fires about 10 years back I got a bit cold and elbowed my way thru the crowd to the front of the fire, you know, doing the Rotisserie Chicken thingee. Little did I know that the back of my Leather Flying Jacket was melting as I fought to get out of the throng! Now that entertainment!

Typical focused BMW rider, usually travels alone has no friends and can only think about the company he is working for.

A couple of years ago, Me bro in law and me set up camp, gather a shite load of wood, and found (what we thought to be) a free drum. All was looking sweet for when the cold strikes, went away got drunk... came back to fire it up, and this chick came over and said the drum was her hubbies that they have every year, and proceeded to show me the name etched into the side of the thing... "feck it" so the short story, hey they got thier drum, and we spent the night round the biggy fire...

Brass monkey drum fires... while they are great things to be around, and the entertainment value of watching people light them with a few litres of gas can't be underestimated, one thng that really pisses me is the way some of the early arrivals gather up an enormous pile of wood, whic might be understandable if they didn't leave on Sunday with half of the wood still unburned! But will they share - like hell, you've more chance of getting a ride on their bike or their missus.

I usually end up bringing a sack of wood back from the big fire each trip to the beer tent.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.
