It did occur to me that since next Wednesday is Anzac Day, we could have a significantly earlier start time, to avoid the cold and dark - 2pm, perhaps?

That's a bloody great idea!!
I may be up for that too

I'm keen to join this Wednesday. I FINALLY got my bike running again (after 4-5 months) so I'm keen.
I've never been on a Wednesday night ride (well, I've never been on a group ride before), so can anybody please summarize for me what I need to know? (is there a set meeting point/course? And other stuff that is considered common knowledge for this run)
Thanks
Ooh! A meritorious idea!

The ANZAC ride is indeed a cool idea and I have another
I don't want to blaspheme this thread but given the consistently good turnouts on the Sunday rides it appears that a pattern is emerging, maybe to our advantage.
It's getting cold and dark on Wednesday nights now and everyone tells me that the TCWNR does an undignified sort of fizzle about this time of the year and reappears with new vigor along with daylight saving starting.
On the other hand, the Sunday rides seem to have become their substitute but without a regular forum home. Soooo ... would it upset the Order Of Things to start a new thread "TCSMR - Wellington 2007" ? (That's 'The Cruisy Sunday Morning Ride' (TCSMR) for those who are past their bedtime)
Im keen if the bikes fixed by then![]()
Good idea, I would be keen.
Also a good idea. This may make knowing numbers a little more difficult if you are planning to contact places for lunch, unless the calendar is used each week. But you will get a more regular group that follows the thread and attends the ride, which I think is a good thing.

If TCSMR was in the same vain as TCWNR then it would be a case of seeing who turns up on the day, making a joint decision on where to go, and then taking your chances for food when you get there. (Sunday lunch is definitely more of a chance than Wednesday dinner, though.)
And, BTW, we should meet at the duck pond!
It could also be called "Church", services starting at the Rimutex Roadside Chapel of Biker Salvation.
"Where are you going this morning, darling?"
"I'm off to church!"
"Lovely. Have a great time then."
