I use a Co2 gas for feeding aquatic plants, gas bottles (like the sodastream) were expensive in the long term and required fiddly set-up (regulators etc).
Began using natural yeast, however if you get the mixture wrong it begins to flow up the pipe work and can enter the tank. It then multiplies in hours and will suffocate all the fish. I began to design a fluid trap, and it simply consists of a jam jar with the piping from the yeast container entering at the top and another pipe through the top to the aquarium. Any yeast mixture that does find it's way to the fluid trap drips to the bottom of the jar and the gas continues to flow to the aquarium.
Not really an iinvention as such, as they can be purchased but they are expensive for some reason. Which is why I created my own.
The only problems I encountered was standard airline tubing actually allows small amounts of Co2 gas to escape through the walls of the tubing. Only negligible amounts but at the start of the yeast cycle this can mean a longer pressurisation period before the gas bubbles begin to go through the underwater difusser. Also another problem is the yeast itself, as it will poison itself in about a week and needs replacement.
I wont go into the affects of Co2 and how it alters the PH, carbonate hardness and general hardness qualities of the water etc etc...

"People are stupid ... almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People's heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true ... they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so all are easier to fool." -- Wizard's First Rule
I heard that Cowpoos invented the Polariod camera. He needed a device that could take an instant photo so he could secretly take pictures of a contraption he labeled "the internal combustion engine" which he later put into a motorcycle and invented what we call the Superbike.
There we have it.
best thing I invented was a solar powered life bouy for boaties....... w
basically a standard life bouy with a solar panel that charged a battery that ran a light and flashing distress beacon. Ended up costing too much to manufacture back in 1990. However you have just reignited the flame so Watch this space.
Kiwibiker is full of inventors. People on here are making shit up all the time.
I invented a flashing light so that deaf people would know when the phone is ringing
Got a few things in the works now. but i dont spend stuff all time on them, i think im lazy.
In terms of an invention - nothing i have ever made is an invention, like the car/computer etc
All are just innovations.
I prefer the research and design rather than all the rest.
Its a pity NZ is so constrained with whom it employs to do what. We leave everything else to entrepreneurs.
It sucks, unless your company is already started.
