Fair enough - whatever rattles your chain. However, I've never had anyone give me a hard time about what I ride. That may be because I've never given anyone else crap about what they ride either. I even trade bikes with those I trust, to find out how the other half lives.
I do have a soft spot for old dungers.
I have fond memories of taking an old Indian for a blast in Blenheim years ago.
Left hand - throttle and gear change
Right hand - spark advance/retard
Left foot - clutch
Right foot - brake (sort of)
Got the hang of it in about 3 minutes - great fun
I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I always was.
Tis done.
Learning to ride elderly machinery is one thing - testing it would be something quite different and difficult to boot. Unless you did it all the time, you would have no frame of reference from which to make a judgement and would just manage to piss off the multitudes.
Topic now thoroughly vacated.
I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I always was.
When I brought my new Triumph I was automatically made a member of the RAT outfit I think. I keep getting sent stuff in the mail.
Been meaning to contact someone locally and see what they get up to.
I think they have regular rides etc.
I kinda like riding with all makes, nothing like variety, in people and bikes.
Some of the best weekends I've ever had were at RAT events. I've had some great times and still go. Just not to every one any more. Riding habbits and bikes have changed over the last 7 years.
I'm going through a phase now where i largely prefer riding on my own. Dicking with my cameras and stuff if I want to. But I'll catch you at a rat event sometime. Consider it an instruction.
