Broke my Volty

I actually passed you yesterday morning in the car - I saw you and the bike and thought you were a local that had parked your Volty there over night and were preparing to go to work - thought "your Volty would last better kept in a garage".

Must have been some time after the impact as there was no car, you had no helmet on and I think you were organising your stuff at the time. If I'd realised you'd had a ding I'd have stopped (I'd just dropped off the trailer we hired for Taupo Trackday)

Oh what a shame you didn't realise what had happened. I could have done with some company while I waited for the truck to arrive. I actually phoned Mack the Knife and he chatted to me and dispensed sympathy and advice (THANKS MACK! )

I've just been talking to the insurance assessor and it looks like Volty is a write-off. Not because the frame's bent (he hasn't assessed that yet) but because there's so much damage to so many bits that he says it's uneconomical to repair. What a blow. I think I'll start another thread because there's quite a story behind it.

WHAT - the black volty at Colemans, chromed rear guard touching the rear tyre, tail light, clutch lever, indicator = write off????

I KNOW!!! Incredible. There is just one black Volty at Colemans and it's mine. Apparently Volty indicators and clutch levers must cost about $500 each. Bye bye Volty

Yeah, it's a bit of a shock. One minute you're riding along at a sedate pace (remember I was going TO work lol) on a bright, sunny beautiful morning. The next minute you're lying on the ground with a Volty on your foot. And then they're telling you it's terminal! (For the Volty, not me of course.)

Anyway I'm looking into buying the "wreck" (I have trouble using that word for a bike that has a bent guard and a couple of broken indicators) and fixing it up myself. I'll get Colemans to do any complicated stuff (ummm... did I mention that the shocks and bars are bent?)

Then Mack the Knife and I will create the world's first BIONIC VOLTY!

Bugger! I got rear ended once.. Its not a nice experience, huh.. You'll notice that as soon as you get on that bike you'll start checking the mirrors in fear as soon as you start braking!! Thats what I found anyway..

Good to hear you didnt injure yourself seriously. Wish you all the best in getting the bike fixed!
