Most parties these days are BYO, you bring it, you drink it, you take whatever is left when you leave. In the days of my youth it was considered rude to bring it and not share it, and then leave whatever was left (usually not much if any).
I personally would never ask for any to be returned if I had left it there, especially the following week, that is just bad form. If someone came to me and asked for some booze a week after leaving it at my place I would respond something like "you are kidding right?.... shit outta luck mate, was drunk the next day during cleanup."
If you are that hard up that you need to ask for it back then you should have thought of that before leaving it there.

"If you can't laugh at yourself, you're just not paying attention!"
"There is no limit to dumb."

"Resolve to live with all your might while you do live, and as you shall wish you had done ten thousand years hence."

Once you've left it, you've left it..... don't ask for it back, that causes embarrasing .... ummmm.... i drunk it, moments.

Just go back and drink it at their place next week!!
Seriously, you just leave it there, unless the host says to take it, but not a week later, I wouldn't ask for it back, I would have drunk it by then anyway if someone left it at mine.
So from the responses, sounds like a good way to stock my fridge... Party at my place on Saturday, BYO!!

Hey Zukin what's the problem - were you paying for the piss for her?

If so only buy as much as you think she should drink and leave her to it. If not don't worry if its her pissing off her friends.

However, if she was giving you a hard time for taking drink home with you after a party, then sure she is right so don't be such a tight arse.

So fess up, what was the true scenario here.
    Cheers

For the most part I'd leave it, depends on who, when where etc. If the host puts on a feed, simple, you leave it there, it's like 'bringing something to the table'. You wouldn't walk out with half a bag of chippies or a couple of sausages would you? Also, after a good party there's no piss left anyway.....

    Name; Scott. Nationality? Hmmm

It depends. I've been to parties/dinners where the host does not drink and insists that people take left-overs back with them - seems a shame to leave it behind in those circumstances.

What you take is your contribution to the party. If everyone was only to take what they drink, not share it with anyone else, and not share anyone else's then it isn't really a party, just a group of people who happen to be drinking at a common destination. Once it is brought into the party it is everyones.

    LEAVE IT BEHIND.

If its a BYO I would expect to take it home on the night (if im in a state to do so) or grab it the next morn (if its a mates place and he owes me shit) more often than not I wouldnt worry about it.

    HOWEVER

After a week to late its a gonna

Fark if you take it.. then stay there and make sure you finish it! Get the hosts to help you if you can't... Big deal if you leave it.. don't you like the people you party with? Swings and roundabouts.. you leave it at their place and they'll leave it at yours...

Raid the fridge, steal all the p!ss, nick the frozen roast from the freezer, and leave a burning paper bag full of dog doo on the front porch... ah wait a minute that was 1991!

    Haha

No this is what actually happened

My daughter had a few friends around for a few drinks (most drank non alcoholic drinks, but some of the boys brought a few beers)
Anyway they had a good time and left and whatever time in the morning.

I noticed about 5 stubbies of beer in the lounge, so I put them in the fridge (Cheers ), then the following weekend he called up my daughter and asked for the beer back, in which she gave them to him

So I duely told her that that is rude of him to do that, and told her that if she ever went to a party to leave whatever she had left over.
Then she said that isnt what normal people would do, so we had a bet!!

If was a discussion all in good fun and at the same time teaching these youngins some old fashioned hospitality

This is Zukin. He leaves beer in his fridge for a week. HARDEN THE FUCK UP, ZUKIN!
It's only when you take the piss out of a partially shaved wookie with an overactive 'me' gene and stapled on piss flaps that it becomes a problem.
