    Biker Cops in Chch

I have only just noticed some biker cops in Chch recently, are they new postings or have they been here all along and I have just been ignorant to that fact. In the last couple of weeks I have seen a biker cop on about 6 instances, including tonight when he had a car pulled over just down the street from my place. I assume he didnt have a radar on board so must have been a red light runner or something!

How many do we have in Chch anyway? What are they mainly used for?

They did a trial back in 2005. I was one of the lucky to get to meet them in person. As of last month we now have two full-time police bikes in Chch, supposedly to monitor inner-city traffic, however a group of riders I know have seen them as far as Goveners Bay.

I did how many a few weeks ago and now I can not remember.
There is not many bikes 3-4? and a few more than that is trained riders.
They gave the impression that they were to be used to get to accident and other placers that a car could not get to fast because of the traffic.
    yeah right.
Feel the fear and do it anyway

When I *ahem* had my meeting with one of them I remarked to him that the bikes would be good for that exact reason, getting to accidents, he replied 'yeah that and catching guys like you'. Like me?

Saw one down Colombo St today on my way to the summit road and subsequent photo taking. Didn't realise it was a Policeman until I was giving him the nod, so I didn't check what sort of bike he was riding. I thought the NZ plod used Honda ST1300s though. White helmet, high vis vest, headlight on (not that you have to be a policeman to have that on)...

And I forgot to add, I do not think that they will be used at night.
You know like the old days, a single cop on a bike seemed to get push off it at night by a black truck.

Yeah, keep it pretty sensible in town. Wasn't speed he got me for, slight gravity problem with my front wheel. Was only a small one as well, front came up over the bump on Durham st crossing Bealy Ave.
