For the owner of the TXM scooter... I feel your pain

I'm not sure if this is supposed to be in the scooter or rant forum but here goes...

Coming back from lunch today, I was walking along Federal Street in the city. Usually I pass by the bike parking (just to admire some of the bikes parked there). On this occasion i spotted a pink TXM 50cc scooter lying on its side. I'm not one to point fingers at anyone but there was this car parked next to the bike parking (more like parked over it). It doesn't take a rocket scientist to put two and two together....

Anyway the damage to the scooter is mainly superficial (I hope). Cracked and broken fairings and a nasty looking rash on the pipe. Worse, the helmet was attached to the side where the scooter fell. Probably have to replace that now... Only thing I could do was get the scooter upright.

Hope that friggin cage driver learns how to park properly. Biking already carries an inherent risk of damaging your bike. You SHOULDN'T have to worry about getting your bike damaged when it's parked but it happens anyway.

Had the same thing happen to my CBR and I wouldn't wish it on anyone....

very stupid on ur part. If it happen to me (it did happen, but cage drove off LONG before I got there). i'd remove said licence plate and get the owners details. (and put the number plate on a wall in my house)

But then again if the driver was so stupid not to notice that they'd backed over a scooter (which I assume they didn't as they'd have either left or picked it up) I doubt they are going to admit it was them who did it. And I doubt a witness saying they saw someone parked there but didn't actually see them do it wouldn't be enough.
A better course of action would have been to kick their doors or key their paintwork....

Don't be an idiot, you have no way of knowing if it was that person or not. Just take down the rego details of both vehicles and leave a note on the scooter with your phone number, if they decide to pursue it they can call you.
If you had been unfortunate enough to have parked near a scooter/bike and NOT been the one to knock it over, you probably wouldn't appreciate having your doors kicked in for something you didn't do!

Sorry, I was kidding abou that bit actually (hence the .... after it) I would never key someones car (I wont even sample the stuff in the bulk bins at the supermarket for fear of getting told off).

nagaraya, for what it's worth, I think you did the right thing. I wonder how many people had already walked past the scooter and not picked it up? I think the scooter owner would be grateful if she knew. (I know that's a big assumption that it's a she...)

Maybe if you see it there again another day you can leave a note and express your sympathies. If you really want to make her day, leave a little flowery card with your sympathy note in it. Seriously. She'll stop being upset about her scratched scooter and start wondering about the mysterious knight in shining armour who picked up her scooter. Trust me on this.

Thanks... I just did it coz no-one managed to upright my bike when some cage decided to back over it. I guess it is a pretty small gesture but a gesture nonetheless...
