    Red face Slowing down?

    Hi all

Ive been practicing my riding now for about 3-4 weeks out on some country roads (away from big trucks, woosy, I know) and have found myself depending a little too much on changing down to slow into a corner instead of using my brakes.
What is the best order to think about breaking and/or slowing down when approaching a corner.

    Cheers

When approaching a corner (assuming it's one that you either know is tight or you don't know at all) then order of approach should be....position yourself on the correct side of the lane for corner entry, button off, change down at least 1 gear, then brake if speed not bleeding off quickly enough.
Note - in normal circumstances you will be off the brakes just as you tip the bike into the corner.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

All your braking should be done before entry into corner.......tip in then grab a handful to exit...............

I usually see the corner... then change down gear to what I feel is right for that corner, brake just before it if I feel I am going too fast. The more you practice the better. Just dont brake as you are in the corner, just as you are going out of the corner put a bit more throttle on. I'm still learning as well, it gets better.

No one should be giving advice to inexperienced riders unless they are professionals and are willing to back up their advice with true experience.
for example how would you feel if someone that you had been giving all your well meaning advice to was to crash, because your advice was shit. would you feel guilty?
i suggest going to a rider training school, so you are not such a menace on the roads.

I suggest you get yourself a mentor like I did when I first started KB, Zuki, or like fish said maybe a Rider Training School. There are quite a few people around the Welly/Wairarapa region who can help you out.
