Kawasaki kx vs kdx

Just a quick question.

is the kx250 really that much harder to learn on than a kdx? Is hard to trail ride/ muck around on, and is it that much more maintenance if the kx is not raced?

I keep gettin told different things

Who is telling you that they are similar???

if you are learning, and have not riden a bike alot before do not buy a kx250, highly likely it will scare you shitless and possibly put you off the sport altogether. stay with the kdx idea, move to a kx in a years time

come on guys, they;re not the EVIL, ok, yes they are.i bought my first kx250 without even test riding it, thats how srared i was,so you can imagine my first day out up at woodhill. me had arm pump after abt 20 mtrs. shit me hard!!!

KDX is definately the way to go, you'll get years of great riding from one, they even raced them at the ISDE and finished

Nobody has told me they are similar, but people have said although the kdx is great I'd get bored of it after a few months.

Im bored of my bike, want more power, but whats the point still can't use the power its got anyway. But dosn't stop me wanting more.
You will never be able to ride the bike to its limits, not many can
The KDX will have more go them you can give it.
But in saying that i would buy the KX250 for myself. just because it has more power

you wont get bored on a kdx, they are easy to work on, simple reliable and cheap, (6995 for a brand new one with a pc pipe and muffler if you know where to look) they are a great bike,
i still love trail riding and racing them in cross countrys, i got 25th overall on the tarawera 100 on one last year

and 3 started the ISDE, and 3 finished
one of those was a 16 year old aussie kid who had only done 2 single day enduros before hand

Forget bragging rights, there are plenty of clowns around that have big powerful bikes that haven't got a clue how to ride them. The KDX is a mighty bike that still can kick ass if in the right hands.

If in a years time you want something else you will be able to flick the KDX with out to many problems.

I'd go the kdx, if after six months you want more, it's not going to be hard to move on without a big loss.

I got a klx300 after 9 years off a bike, I was going to get a WR450 but got talked out of it by the bike dealer, I'm real glad, it gives you a chance to get back into it without going warp speed before your reactions are ready.

Also going into winter, when the rides are riverhead/forestry, the kdx is going to be one heck of alot easier to deal with in that windy slow stuff than a KX250.

I have a 400exc and a TM250. When the going gets tight I'm faster on my wifes KDX. The bike is plenty fast enough, with the right rider I'd still put money on a KDX in the woodhill or riverhead enduros. You will be faster on the KDX than on a KX, especially at the end of the day and as a bonus you won't crash as much, or spend as much on maintenance, handlebars and rear guards.

Hi, Wild West Honda has a mint 05 model, with very low hours and PC pipes, owned by older bloke who bought in 06, on the floor for only $5500, save $2500 on new. Worth a shot to see if you like it, if not and it has to be a quack, then call scotty at MR for a new KX250 2 tanger for some arm stretching action! The trailie kdx is happier at low revs when learning, while the motocross KX begs for throttle twisting!
