Even though I was sadly unable to hook up with the crew, here is how perfect the day was from the top of the hill.

Where the bloody hell are all the Christchurch riders? Hardly any seem to bother posting on KB, yet there are hundreds. There are almost never any regular Christchurch / Canterbury (fuck, I don't bloody care any more if it's in Christchurch as long as I can get there on a tank of gas and have an enjoyable ride with someone / several someones) rides organised, at least thru KB - take a look in the Meetings and Events forum and there are heaps of regular rides going elsewhere in the country on various weeknights... even a ride for mentors and newbies to go and practice things. I'd say I'm a little past the "complete newbie" stage, but I'm still keen to learn. But to learn, you gotta go ride. I'd like to ride with other people....

That's the problem. I've met a couple of people on KB, all good, you're good guys too the lot of you. But god damnit do you think I can find anyone in Christchurch to ride with on anything near a regular basis? Um, nup. Been trying for fucking ages, and nothing close to success yet. I try bribing with beer at the end of the ride, and still no takers. Okay, okay, I only ride an old single cylider 250cc bike (bigger than a bucket ), and I can understand that guys who ride bigger bikes don't necessarily want a 250 holding them up. But us newbies need a bit of encouragement now and then... I sure wouldn't mind some. Hell - come and follow me over Dyers Pass Road to Godley House out at Diamond Harbour... and bloody see if I don't get the NZ to boogy. Guys who go on the Sportzone Suzuki rides have seen it. Sure, I can't do more'n 150km/h (and that takes a runup...) tapped out on a long straight (on a closed, private road / unused runway / bathtub), but the twisty bits don't need that kind of speed. 'Sides, I'm not going to be on a 250cc forever, and I'd like to have someone to ride with when I get my bigger, shinier set of wheels.

Come on you lot. Come and have a ride with me. I wanna meet some more good people from Chch, people I can ride with regularly, who can show me new roads to ride and new pubs to drink (water of course ) at. And some contructive opinion on my standard of riding, and what I can do to improve, I'd like that. I will point out right here, I do like to ride briskly, and I love fanging through the twisty bits. But I'm honestly a careful rider, not a young hoon... you won't catch me overstepping my limits. I like to have fun, and I like to ride briskly, but I value my licence and my life.

Post here or PM me, whichever. I don't mind what you ride either, be it Japanese or otherwise, sprotsbike or otherwise.

hell man, we are here (kinda missed this thread tho) As for the lack of threads re riding they are here but theres so much farking shit posted on KB its often tricky sifting through it tio find the good shit.
We ride a lot, you know that... I dont know why you feel like wee Jonny no friends but you can always try pming riders as posting up a ride often dosnt get noticed amoungest the bull.

NOW in your post and talking to you last Monday on the ride, you seem to have a problem with you size... i followed you at 130k the speed limit is 100 and we tend to stick closser to that than 130.
People dont have a problem with your bike man, it has two wheels and thats all that matters, so get over the small thing and gain experance then move on up when you are ready, you will do ok and the survivers always take there time moving up the ranks.

Stay tuned you know were we hang out, but do remember its winter and I dont ride when the temp drops into single figgers
    cheers DD

Must be something wrong with my speedo... my bike struggles to get over 110 - 115 unless I'm in 5th absolutely wringing it's neck, which I didn't do on Mondy. I don't think I went over 120km/h at any stage on the trip on Monday, although I admit I wasn't watching my speedo the whole time. If people in the group stick closer to 100, how come I wasn't able to keep up then? Riddle me THAT. Still didn't stop you overtaking and pulling away from me, did it? You overtook me several times, after the group stopped to wait for us slower riders (appreciate that by the way), and I was always doing 100km/h or a bit more. I'm not worried about being overtaken, just pointing out I was either doing less than you thought, or that you're less of an angel than you make out!

I don't have a problem with my size, just my bikes! I know people don't have a problem with it, and that's great. Survivors do take their time moving up the ranks... but you said yourself out at Akaroa "Man you've had that thing for ages. Time to upgrade?" Yes, yes it is. If only I had the licence to match, I'd be off test riding to figure out what suited me as an upgrade machine.

Good luck with the sale though. Being a rego'ed and wof'ed 250 someone's bound to buy it eventually. Pity you aren't getting another bike, but them's the breaks of needing every dollar...

LOL okay okay, so justabout anything would be an upgrade for me! I'll make do with the NZ until I get my full though, it's really a pretty good bike overall, just not quite enough power. Less than six months to go now! Can justabout smell it...

Doesn't really make any difference, me hunkering down, but ya gotta look the part, you understand! That Buell sounds soooo horny btw...
