HUH? the rear guard??? its not anywere near as big as mine... and how would that keep the engine clean?

Unless you mean the front guard which is the same as mine and dosnt protect the engine at all

Yes I did mean the rear guard as there is no front and the crud goes all over the motor and rear shock and can block a engine vent back there some where. (have not looked for it yet)
Here is a pic of a standard rear guard, is your different?

If you look again at one of the pic's, you will see that it goes right down past the swing arm.
Where the standard stops where the shock meets the bars above the swing arm.

I wish the Griso had come with or aftermarket protection (that looked good) to protect the rear spring, to late for mine, to many shingle road's and chunks of paint taken off it, the same on the swing arm. Some of just stuck a strip of rubber in place that works a treat. Though not exactly and assetic design.

Yeah funny ya say that... since lookign at Guzzi's over the years, majority of the olderones look freakin dirty and well used, I guess that means well loved, just in a different way

Yeah, mine's got a few chips here and there, not really too bothered, as long as the tank retains it's beautiful burgundy colour.

tricky to see, sorry It looked like the CF guard back 1 page stops on the arm where its zip tied on.

And... just looked at mine, yeah the guard does stop rather high, but the shock is clean and bugger all on the engine due to swing arm and shit wearing it instead, typical... as I keep it clean after each ride, LOL It never gets the chance hence why I never thought it a problem

I don't know if it is a real problem, apart from an odd stone chip or ten.
And the water off the road would help keep that part clean as well. (to a point)

It's just would be better if the guard when down a bit more to remove any chance of a problem.

Not sure how worried I are about it.
Well I do, other wise I would have done something about it.
And it is on the long, "will do one day list".

I found this interesting small guard that fits Guzzi's and yes I know it's on a sport, but does fit all/most bikes?
It would keep the back of the motor and shock from being chipped and may work fine.
The problem is it has not much back to the guard.
I may look at some MX bike guard or road bike guards and see if I can make something a long the same lines. ("will do one day list")
Or use an other guard to make a extension.

My new Mk2 has this stamped on the left hand side of the frame (see pic)
My other Mk2 and my Mk1 does not have this, what is it about?

Ahh, this bike was once owned by Bevan Williams who liked to stamp the fact that he was a team player on everything he owned. it was an understated way of saying "I'm an All black and proud of it"
The problem was that Bevan couldn't play for shit and was never invited to play for the AB's but it didn't stop him living in a fantasy world.

Sorry I can not help you.
It's a funny place to have letters stamped.
Best guess is someone did stamp their name on it for I.D if stolen?
As I have done this before on a bike and a car that I thought that I would never sell.

I know years ago a mate had an old Triumph and when he opened up the motor he found a ingraving saying "This bike will always be the property of Highway 61" (or something like that)
He was not a very happy chap, so he sold it quick.

The all mighty Grizz is a great machine, and that young fellow must have bloody good taste.

There is rumour we might see this 8valve engine in a bike this year at some shows again? Not sure how accurate that is though.
