There is a large diesel spill on the flat straight just west-ward of the Kaimai school. The fire crew are cleaning up now, and the cops are out slowing & warning traffic, but it's bound to be a bit nasty for a few days.

ACC - It's where the Enron accountants all went.
Atleast it's started raining now, help clean it up more. If it reaches that far.

Disturbed - Inside the Fire
Just came thru in the Sube Cude - dunno how so MUCH diesel could be dropped - a leaky tanker maybe? - Mainly on the left heading toward Tauranga, - take it easy........
Cheers for that, I'll be heading over that way on Friday morning. How far from the top of the hill, heading out of Tauranga, is the school again? Haven't been there in a year or so and my memory isn't that good anyway!
Redefining slow since 2006...
Hey guys, was behind a tanker tonight that dropped 2-500ltr of diesel/waste oil on the tauranga side of the Kaimais.. just before the bridge and passing lane before the kaimai school, both sides of the road were well covered so thought id better post something up here. Was scary enough with 4 whells let alone two....
Cheers
Well spotted
Hope you got his rego and potted him to Mr Plod
Next event...
Aussie - Melbourne - Perth - Darwin - Alice - Melbourne... April-May 2011
Yip... He pulled over. Spent the next 2 hours trying to wave people into the other lane... Fire and police and enviroment bop(Oil ran into river) turned up. Putting sand on the road. Im guessing itl still be dodgy for a couple of days? When I lived in Hams the racer boys would drop diesel on the sunshine ave roundabout... that was bloody dodgy the next day when covered in sand...
What? Thanks for the warning![]()
Thanks for the info - came through this morning no probs, heading out up the Kaimai's, but took it easy just in case.
Redefining slow since 2006...
Rain coming tomorrow, and there's still a whole heap of oil on the road - I'd suggest that anyone heading towards Tauranga from the Waikato does not use the left lane (this is the first passing lane, as opposed to slow vehicle bay, from the summit)
