    On Any Sunday (movie)

I got to borrow Bistard's DVD of the 1971 movie "On Any Sunday".
Mrs and I sat down and just finished watching it.
What an awesome movie !!! If you haven't seen it, do !!!

It's unbelievable how fast they ride their bikes with the lack of proection and also handling compared to what we have today.
It's all pure bikes, non of the computer-animated crap that we see today in too many movies.

Now, to find a copy of "On Any Sunday 2"...

    Thanks for the loan B.

Don't do it nudemetalz! OAS 2 is the typical Hollywood sequel - done for the money and devoid of the passion that shows through in the original.
i have not seen OAS in years, Must get it on DVD sometime. Just to show my age, I saw OAS at the flicks when it came out.

OAS 2 is still a good movie in my view and has Kenny Roberts on it, but it definitely wasn't the classic the first one was, but that is because the ear-to-ear grin of Malcolm Smith could never be replicated.

We watched OAS 1 at the movies when it first came out too so you can understand why dirt biking was so big with us back then we just all wanted to be like Steve McQueen, Malcolm and Mert Lawill. If you could only ride on the road then you were a bit of a pussy.
    Cheers

True Merv. The footage in OAS2 is well worth watching, together with King Kenny. The mention of the ear to ear grin had me laughing. Once seen - never forgotten!
I still can't forgive OAS2 for repeating the burning trail bike sequence - in a ham-fisted way.

Yes, I was that pussy. Back in the day, I only went off road when my shitty brakes or shittier tyres made it inevitable.

One of the reasons I saw OAS again was that it was nostalgic for me.
When I was a young boy (around '78) my father & I watched it on a movie projector at home together . This was before VCRs came out (even Beta ones!!), and I remember him saying that "you will be into bikes passionately like that one day". How true that was !!
So it was good to revisit that and share with my wife.

I have seen OAS2 but was such a long time ago then only thing I can remember was the TZ750-powered speed racer at Bonneville.

We had a copy of that when I was a kid, Haven't seen it for over 25 years.

Funny enough my 5 year old watched that clip 3 times and asked me for a motorbike.

    That explains quite a lot......
