This is a nice BMW F800... If it wasn't this exact one, I'd definitely say go the SuperDuke

Any bike with "super" in front of its model name is built for tossers.
They're ugly European trash. I don't care how many medals/awards they have gathered, edge styl'n is shit, and passe.
Is that offensive?......bah,
Zapf, if long distance enjoyment is what you want then the F800 is the bizz. If it's short weekend blats up & down twisties and lots of hooligan behaviour then it's the Superduke or Ducati Hypermotard (which is supposed to be here in NZ anyday). I've ridden the Duke and liked it. Would be great for 6 weeks until they collect my licence.
If you are thinking about nakeds though I would make sure you try the Tuano and S/triple ( a personal favourite), and the MV Brutale 910 is meant to be hot.
But back to long trips. I've said enough in my Bike review on here about the F800. Just want to point out that it can be a hooligan, can be ridden fast (and loves it), but more for your wish list, it is bloody comfortable and travels about 390km on it's little 16L tank in touring mode. Not many bikes can match that. Mechanically very reliable and cheap to maintain - service intervals are 20,000km. The screen on the S model does a fantastic job and the fairings give good leg shelter while still having that naked bike look. Best of the above bunch for wind and rain protection and with heated grips as standard.
Go test ride them all, you pick what does it for you. Price wise the F800 is cheaper than all the above. If you need/want that extra 200cc or must do 240kph every ride then your decision is already made.
Let us all know what you test and buy? I don't think any will disappoint.

Sorry sAsLEX, the bird will have to go if I get anything else. I have a CBR954 as well remember. So the CBR954 will have to suffice for a faired bike perhaps. I am just starting to be put off by the weight of the bird, stationary and also trying to steer it on the takaka hills.
I really enjoyed my Hornet, hence thats why I am looking at the likes of nakes.
I am personally fairly restrained, so I hope that should keep my license in check either way I go.
MD, re the tank range sure is impressive. What I am thinking thou is that the F800 is around 18~19k, and if I can get a SD for like 20k but with WP suspension all around standard then perhaps it is a better deal? I know a lot of the these bike are better than the sum of its parts, so yes only a test ride / ownership will show tell. May I ask about the servicing cost of the F800?

IMHO the BMW would be more than suffice for your riding style/requirements.
You tend to do longer, cruisier rides as opposed to YEEE FARKIN' HA blasts therefore the S'duke would be over kill to the extreme.
However...I reckon the S'duke has more "presence", a ballsier appeal...personality and a sound to die for(Akropovic's rock!).
Ride them both mate
I'm Biased, the BMW sounds like a very practicle bike !! I "tour" with the tankbag & a wee seat back (handy for those times you need extra gas). Having said that, did 5400k's down South over the new year period & didn't have gas shortage probs. Did 3000k's (this year) accompanied by a Dude who had a 23ltr tank & likes to get along @ a good clip down to the brass monkey & back & had the misfortune of running out of gas twice, once 17k's out of Geraldene in the dark (bugger) & then 6k's out of Greymouth on the way home, my own stupid fault really (made for interesting riding being towed with my tiedown, hanging onto it with one hand & the bars with the other @ 60kph, the legal speed is 30kph, isn't it) I swear my arms are longer now.So after 35000k's on the Super Duke the new 18.5ltr tank would be the bees knees. But if you don't want to turn into a hooligan, leave the KTM out of the equation & get the BMW.

As mad as a spider, and twice as hairy !
From riding with Dazza around some of the best road here it is very clear that the Super Duke is a excellent bike for our roads here . Between a Tuono Racing / Factory & a Super Duke the Aprilia would be the more layed back of the 2 bikes & abit quicker over all . Seen as Dazza doesn't trust me with his SD I'll have to find a demo one to give the SINKO ride test & review sometime . PT { I think he doen't want to see what his bike can really do with me on it Bahhahahahahahah ! }
