eek Sitting my R test 07:30 Sat morning (07/07/07)

What a crazy time to do a Restricted test!

Well... at least hopefully it won't rain (ha ha I crack myself up sometimes)

Ok so I'm doing my restricted test in the semi-darkness on a Saturday morning in mid winter on roads I've never ridden on, when it's likely to be raining cats and dogs. And I won't even be properly awake yet, let alone had my first coffee and a hearty breakfast. I do like a challenge.

Maybe when the tester sees a woman of "a certain age" turning up in all the safety gear including a fluoro vest at 7:30 on a Saturday morning, they'll just hand me a certificate that says "passed with flying colours" and we can all go home early.

But just in case that doesn't happen, wish me luck for the test.

    You'll be fine.

It's just realistic. You won't perfect conditions and perfect roads with a perfect state of mind when you are out in the real world - at least, not all the time! So it's just setting you up for the rest of your motorcycling career . . .

So your shout Saturday night then?

You'll be fine. I just did my full at 8am, itwas overcast and threatening rain, but no wind and the roads were fairly quiet. Best time of the day I reckon!

    Good luck

Yay - goodbye L plate hopefully!

You'll be fine Lindis! Even if it will be thunder, lightening and tornado conditions when you try and do your U-turns...

LOL thanks Jill... you're filling me with confidence

Thanks to the rest of you too. I'm not really nervous - just wish it could be a fun ride on a nice sunny morning instead! Never mind, once it's out of the way I can head to the motomail sale. (I hope they won't mind me dripping all over their floor)

Is your lucky/favourite number 7 or something? Or was it just a random fluke that the date lined up like that?

(Apparently people are queueing up to get married over here on Saturday because it's an 'auspicious' date, and will bring wealth, health and happiness, etc.)

Best of luck with the test.

Nah it was just a random date - had to be a Saturday because I work during the week, and I picked the earliest morning option because I hate Saturday traffic around shopping malls (I'm doing my test at Westgate).

Then I'm going to ride the 7.7 km to Motomail and spend $77 at their sale. Also completely randomly.

Yay! Passed! Left home in the dark but it was fairly light by the time I did my test, and just drizzly rather than raining. Apparently they usually have ear pieces but theirs was broken so I had to watch the tester's indicators in my mirrors while she followed me in a car.

The tester I got was really nice (I should have asked her name). She kept things quite simple for me because I'd never been on the roads out there before and I think any mistakes I made were as a result of having no idea where I was!

We went through roundabouts (left, right and straight ahead), controlled and uncontrolled intersections, a U-turn in a cul de sac, a hill start, another U-turn on gravel, through a one-way street system, 50k and 70k zones... pretty much tested out all the basic skills. All done on a wet road with poor visibility of course! So I reckon I earned my 6R

Promptly removed my L-plate on the side of the road and rode home on the motorway - legally
