    Pommy road safety ad

This is an ad they're showing in Pommy. Same motto as here, but quite a punchy message.

Personally I'd say keep control of your dogs.

And to think of the number of people who whined about the graphic nature of the ones in NZ, and so they baby them down.

What a nutjob to be passing there anyway, lookedrather narrow and as we saw no room for any errors. Would be like overtaking on a bridge then realising " oh crap! no escape route".

And yes the dog contributed to the whole mess - personally would have run the frickin mutt over.

Maybe an alternate advert could be added where he hits the dog and it acts as a projectile and still hits the guy by fence killing him and destroys both her legs. Then it would be like those final destination movies.

    What??

How dare they show an ad where there is a proper degree of reality and display what the actual ramifications of a crash are!

I hope the ACC and/or LTSA never cotton on to this, and continue to pander to the namby pamby parade, I'd hate to think that we could make an actual improvement in cage pilot education via television!

Seriously... our 'safety' authorities could do well to rip off more than just a catch phrase...

I was thinking that, but I think some bikers could learn from those ads.

Need some LTSA of sports bikers doing a 200k passing maneuver down a hill while turning around a bend and *SMACK* right into a sheep cross the road.

Again the propagandists miss the point. It wasn't speed that contributed to this carnage. It was stupidity.

Some got it even if the advert did blame the speed.

There was a study released here in Aus about graphic road safety ads. They've decided they don't work because the ones that could benefit from paying attention to it are either young people totally desensitised to graphic gore due to too much violent movie viewing and video games, or Mum and Dad dozy drivers who don't consider themselves a hazard.

The drivers who are shocked by the ads and try to take more care are generally the ones who are pretty careful and cautious on the roads anyway.

That's the thinking behind the "tiny dick" ad campaigns they've just started, which I don't think will work either.

My solution would be shitloads more cops on the roads with the back up to do their job, and a court system with balls as opposed to wet lettuce leaves.

Don't pay your fines? Jail for you . . . none of this thousands of dollars being racked up bullshit.

    Just my .5c.

Can't imagine they'd show that in the UK - far too graphic - the ad is Irish (so is the driving!)

Better to keep quiet and have people think you're stupid than open your mouth and prove it!

Drove to Heathrow this morning. 100 MPH the whole way, except for the average speed cam bit, but did I die? When my exhaust then broke and it was an 80MPH trip home is was like I was standing still half the time!

According to Andrea Knackerhead 100K is super bad and we are all murdering idiots for exceeding it. Yet over here, the UK, the average motorway speed is about 90-100 in the right hand lane, even with the 70? limit, and people seem to cope just fine.
