    Back from hospital.

They took x-rays of my whole back.

This time i have only strained and bruised my lumbar region.

Doc showed me the x-rays and informed me that basically by whole back is worn out and in medical terms

    "fucked"

He actually advised me that riding bikes is not the best activity for an old bugger such as myself.

Screw them. As long as I am able to lift a leg high enough to straddle a bike I will keep riding.

Sharron reckons she is going to get the bike melted down and made into a rifle.

On anti inflamatory and pain relief tablets. 5 days signed off. Back to work and back onto the bike.

maybe you should look into "cooler" bikes, ones that are a bit lower and easier to jump on when ur push starting it?

    oh and join you-sillies.

then again you can always trade up to one of these bad boys!

Straining and bruising sounds like it might heal, hope it all comes right in the end mate. Might be time to lay off the pies and beer and eat more salads tho eh?

Last week I posted, beit very inarticulately, regarding the attempt by the NZ Police to impose more restrictions upon us as shooters.

This is being done via ERMA as they did make application to the Ministry for the Environment and were turned down.

The gist of the application by the NZ police is to reclassify gunpowder (modern and BP) as a controlled substance and thereby enabling them to require that we shooters have to obtain a licence\permit to produce our own ammunition. They also envisage that we will need to pass courses\exams so as to be able to reload. This will be obviously at a cost to the person applying.

Ammunition in this country has gone up in price 50-100% over the last year and more people are learning to reload their own. This always has been an acceptabler practice but now if ERMA pass this request by the police, there will be stringent restrictions placed upon the shooter.

Another example of control by indirect means.

I know this isnt a political thread but this trend worries me. I shoot up to 300 rounds in a competition and if forced to use factory I would not be able to partake of my sport as this ammount of .44 mag woud cost me approx $500 in ammo alone.

Those persons whose sport involves getting the most accuracyn out of their ammunition nwill also be affected as this invariably means reloading.

This will affect us all. If reloading is severly curtailed then factory ammo will increase in price as they will have a captive market. Those that choose to reload will have more resttrictions placed on them ( at a cost as nothing is free).

Get the latest copy of Guns and Hunting. Read the SSANZ news for yourselves and definitely contact your MP re this issue.

I post this again as no one seemed to notice or reply to the last posting and I feel very strongly about control measures being implimented via sideways or backdoor methods. If they want more controls they should go to Parliament but they know they will loose out by doing so.

its going to be a tough one to defend because on the face of it most people (and MP's) will think control over gunpowder can only be a good thing, not realizing that it will simply raise costs for no additional benefit. When was the last time anything bad happened over buying gunpowder?

One more step towards being like the UK.

Man I hate to see this kind of thinking in your officials. It will be all we can do to retain any rights here in the US in the next 4 years. They cant outright ban without a blood bath...but a tax here, a license there and before you know it you just cant afford it...and thats all they wanted in the first place.
    Stay strong down there

Just sent this to my MP

    "Dear sir,
I wish to draw your attention to the ERMA meeting mentioned in the tittle of this e-mail. (HRC08007)
The NZ Police, failing to get what they wanted from MFE, have approached ERMA with the intent to curtail and limit the legitimate right of firearms users to manufacture their own ammunition.
This is a seripticious attempt at once again circumventing the rule of law and implementing their own agenda.
If passed this will place futher beaurocratic and financial burdens upon a lawful recreational activity. We have enough laws in place now with out the Police department using the"system" to create their own.
If this motion is passed at ERMA, I for one will serriosly be impacted and therefore will treat it as a direct attack upon myself. Therefore if it is passed I will withdraw all support I have given to yourself and your party.
I do not make this statement rashly but enough is enough."

    Chris

BTW reading the documents on the ERMA site, the proposed fee for a CSL licence will be $265 with a police check and $245 without.

    Renewable every 5 years.

    Payable to whom?

$245 or $265 times the number of people who have legitimate grounds to use black powder and/or nitro powder (which is not a small number) every 5 years... bound to add up to a tidy sum for someone.

Not arguing the opposite case - but check page 28 of http://www.erma.govt.nz/appfiles/exe...C08007-002.pdf
    "Substances covered by this application"

Black Powder, Single, Double and Triple base smokeless powder need to be in quantities of 50kg or more. I couldn't make sense of the detonators section to determine if primers are going to be controlled...

That doc is useful too - the last part is the submissions page.

    Download it.

    Use it.

    No.
You cannot purchase loaded ammunition, but you can purchase all of the components seperately and roll your own.
Only the serious people get involved to this level, so increasing restriction serves little purpose.
A mate with a "loading licence" will be able to buy enough to support a whole group of shooters who reload their own.

Typical remnants of the previous political regime. Making extra rules and regulations to keep themselves "gainfully employed"...
