I went on quite a few of the kiwibiker rides from Avalon Park (mostly Wednesday. Thursday I have work at night) and didn't bump into many female riders. Also I clock up the kms big time going all sorts of places other than just Rimutakas. Over Paekak, Palmerston, Waipukurau, Taupo, Napier to name a few. Track days I haven't seen many female riders as well. I remember seeing rachprice at the motomart trackday in February, and one or two others.

When I headed over to paraparam from Upper Hutt today I was looking out very closely at the riders! I saw heeeaps of guys (mostly Harley/cruiser bikes actually... one gixxer thou!!) and two women. One of those women was pillion and the other was riding a scorpio 225 looking thing - her lean angle round one of the bends on Grays road looked wicked!! Scraping peg action!!

I now have a reliable road bike so I will be out and about more!

Forget the biker chicks. You'll be far better off getting yourself a normal woman who doesn't actually have a problem with motorcycling, and taking it from there.

Yep one that will have your babies, stay at home, while you can go out with your mates and ride as fast as you like without having to slow down!
I know of a very stylish lady (who is not mannish or odd) who is right into her large capacity bikes, had children, both husband and wife would go on bike touring holidays around NewZealand with the two kids when they were small.

Yeah i agree,not many female riders these days,all the up and coming females are into the boy racers and their shiny pieces of shit called steel coffins.biker woman are a dying breed if you ask me(sigh)
if there are any female riders still in existence i'm up for a ride!

Myself and my husband went for a tour up North Island a few months back, i was surprised at the amount of women who would walk up and say its so good to see a woman riding a motorbike! i was a little taken back really as down south Island i know alot of woman who ride bikes alot of young women as well. I didn't think much about it but thought there would be alot of women riding in the North Island because of the bigger population. I just think its the perceived risk, and it is more risky than what most women would do for a past time/interest/sport. I reckon one day you won't bat an eyelid when you see a woman on a motorbike, women playing rugby was not heard of when i was a kid tackling the boys for pulling my hair

I must admit I have been surprised at how many chicks there seem to be on bikes out there now compared with when I first started riding there are heaps of them.

when i started riding there was just - well - me ...... but that was long, long ago in a galaxy faaaaaaaaaaaaar away

There are loads of females riding around the country. Every month I have a give-away with my column and I've had hundreds of entries to date. I find majority are riding 400cc-600cc but there are a selected few that have returned to riding and are on 1000cc bikes.

Indeed there are ... most don't make an issue of the fact that they ride a bike. If you didn't know them personally ... you would never know.
Often ... untill/up to, the time the helmet comes off.... the gender remains unknown. And ... long may it continue.
Often the guy that blew you into the weeds in those last twisties...wasn't a guy. When you follow him into the gas station to complement him, on his ability... and she giggles ....
