I think Soichiro would be quite into that. Everybody's heard his early rantings about two strokes -- noisy, high pitched, blow smoke, the person lying next to you in bed would never let you buy it... So he built a 50cc four stroke instead. Easy to start, quiet, reliable, nice power delivery.

The electric motor is even further down that path. I think Mr Honda would be quite keen on an electric bike.

We've got the CB1000R.. Now we just need to swap out the engine for a v4 and call it the VB1000R.

Yes that's pretty much one of the first things I thought when I heard and saw the new R1. Still, not quite the same thing as a proper V4. And ditch the VTEC too...

What's wrong guys? Afraid it's going to look something like these two monstrosities?

    Well never fear.

I have gone to the effort of doing all your market study, research and design for you. For no financial benefit of my own, I stress.

So when you start producing these babies next year can you put me at the top of the list? I'll call it a laptop and put it on my student loan somehow. Course related costs I suppose - gotta get to uni somehow.

Stop pissing around with the dreary IL4 trash you've made over the last few years.

We want our real bikes back.

    theyre really gay.

Their old motogp bike was V5, new one is V4.

They dont even make a sports V(firestorms are NOT a sport bike) anymore.

closest thing to cool is the new R1. does anyone here think they sound like a beefed up NC30...

That's cool - I like the way you put that - but what if you did it the other way round. Like if you wrap Soichiro in the magnets and put the coils on the outside, well you wouldn't need slip rings then. It's much more reliable, more hondalike don't you think?

You've really got no idea at all have you? but thanks for playing.

    Firestorms are a V-twin, not a V-4.

the RC211V was a V5 correct, at 990ccc. With the introduction of the 800cc limit it "lost" a cylinder and became an 800cc V4 the RC212V. That is simplistic thinking at its most basic. I very much doubt there would be ANY part interchangeability or anything except the most basic architectural similarity. It is prototype racing after all.

Oh and I for one would definitely like a "beefed up" NC30. They're called RC30's and if you have one, I will buy it from you for $5000 cash money right now. or an RC45.

$5,000? Hah you've got no idea. My NC30 is worth more than that. Try $30k for an RC30 - which is something I'll be saving for when I leave uni. (RC45 is nice too, but I do love the look of the RC30 more!)

I am well aware of the values of RC30's RC45's, RC51's and the like. I was trying to make a point. Even NC30's (I own two of the blummin things after all)

    *girlish squeal*

who wants to loan me 500 for "R&D"

I promise, given i have a source of income this summer, to have it fuel injected by march, and offer the donor the FI system at cost, with return of the bike if desired

i'm dead serious. For a while now i've been planning to FI my V4 but also commuting on the V4 made this difficult, plus lack of cash to buy the required parts. was going to completely remake the induction AND ignition system - just needed a test bench (motor) and a reasonable source of income (ie a job) to get keep the ball rolling. I'm 5/8 the way through a mechatronics engineering degree and have access to most the university labs

also, i have the required fairings/tank etc to get that thing back on the track and maybe even the road

though if it has the fugly nc24 rear wheel and swingarm........
