I'm glad you didn't follow him much harder - he would have ended up taking your riding into account, rather than just getting on with his job.

Cops are just commercial drivers really. Statistically, they would have to be more careful than you or I.

I work with an ex MOT bike cop - he was in the force back in the 70's.

He has told me a few stories about how the bike cops would race each other to accident scenes, sometimes with disastrous results.

That's technically correct. He just rides in the middle of the lane, or wherever else he chooses to, whether people choose to get out of the way or not.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Biker cops must have intense training. My mate is training to become a biker paramedic (the rapid response bike is finally coming into action), and one of the requirements he has to fill is to do and ace the cop riding coarse.

I reckon they should make it available to the public. I know that I could do with more training, and i can't necessarily afford to gain experience by risking and possibly crashing my bike every couple of months...tho it's seeming like that's how it's happening lately.
Philosophy 1: Bikers are so full of shit kuz we ride for so long, our butt cheeks mould into one, leaving one exit for shit to escape!

The view with regards to 'advanced' rider training is that people have a tendancy to use the extra skill when it's not needed rather than saving it for situations that require the 'super human effort'. That is, that in general, people you know they can rider faster, ride faster.

In the ideal situation Police officers are accountable for their actions 100% of the time - you aren't going to see them carving up winding back roads at a great rate of knots unless there is a requirement for them to do so. Whereas you or I are likely to do this simply because we enjoy it better than perhaps doing it at the speed limit.
