I fear the day technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots! ALBERT EINSTEIN
As a 20 yr old I was a bag of nerves, no sleep etc. But once the flag dropped it was all gone.
Not many current racers would have experienced push starts, that was even more stressful. That total silence just before the first engine fired, was something else.
As you get to my age (60) it all becomes so relaxed, ok, lined up, flag drops, off we go !!! Heart rate hardly over 80. Gaz.
You'd never go hungry with Nigella Gaz.
If it weren't for flashbacks...I'd have no memory at all..
No race day nerves for me, although I know two people I raced with and there race day ritual included a nervous chunder in the morning
I actually get pretty lethargic and sleepy while we're waiting on the dummy grid

I'd be more nervous about getting waxed than racing!Hot wax on those delicate bits...then ripped off? No thanks. Eyes are watering just thinking about it.
Having only ever raced at Taupo(and Paeroa once) Im fine the night before but driving up out of the pine trees on Broadlands Road I get that knot in my tummy... then it's straight to the toilet as soon as Im at the track.
Paeroa was different tho. Was more nervous at sign on and scrutineering than the racing. Once on the track I get so focused the nerves are gone.
I'm fat to Nervous to keep reading
or go any where near a race track AGAIN
na bugger that it is the night before (now) and I'm up reading this
shows how bad it gets
now where is my wax!!!!

I remembered yesterday just how stressed I get on the dummy grid. I espicially hate when someone crashes and we're all stuck there for ages. Usually have to cut engine and take skid lid off to breathe.
Waxing. I'm sure all the top riders do it to save a few gramms. Chopper's new sprog probably has a hairier back than him.
