    Bike insurance - AGAIN!

Just got bike insurance from National Auto Club, 0800 501 508 for $98.10 for a 2005 CRF250X. Covered for theft, covered for someone bashing into my trailer. Not covered for bike falling off trailer! It's $450.00 excess and insured for $4.500.

It's simple if bike falls off trailer make sure you back up and damage the trailer on the nearest lamp post and in doing this it caused the bike to come off trailer hence the damage and bike is now covered. (not that my broker told me this of cause)

I've got mine covered there too. My excess is $500. Premium is somewhere around $70, but that's because the bike is insured for $2500. Covered for Theft only if it is locked up but not if I leave it on the driveway and go in for a coffee. Transit is covered, don't know about not being covered if it fell off tho'.

"It fell off the trailer" incidents generally not covered, as this can be used as an excuse to upgrade from last year's slow-poke to this year's much faster bike...

Thanks for the pointer to NAC, I'll give them a ring.

We are with AMI, $70 for mine, $60 for missus and a $250 excess. We only got it through AMI as they have our other insurance so done us a special policy.
