Stuck trying to repack my exhaust...

Hi guys,

I really need to repack my exhaust as it is way too loud, I've taken it off but cannot for the life of me get the core out of the cannister. Looks like there is a bit of silocene in there which is probably stopping me from removing it.

Any ideas of how I can get past this? Bare in mind I don't have a vice at home

End cap is but that is meant to stay on. It's screwed on but they've been removed

Basically the end pipe still stuck to the canister ae? Cut the silocene with the edge of a flathead and twist the bottom opposite from the top....had the same problem last night on a mates bikes and what ive said finally worked... Heat the edge of the canister a bit too...below the level of where the pipe fits..shake a bit, twist a bit, yank a bit...repeat until successful... haaha sounds like the birdie dance..

Try knocking the end cap/internals off and out with a a piece of pipe or thick dowel slid up the centre.Thats how i had to do it with the last two i've done.

That happened with mine, I just tapped it out with a rubber mallet.

Trust honda to make you do a gay dance infront of your mates trying to fix the damn thing.

Sorted it in the end, repacked it and it's not even any quieter haha WTF???

what packing did you use?

The last bike I repacked was originally packed with pink bats and they were fair jammed in. I normally use a more coarse packing material rather than a fine packing material.

While this thread is around... Where do you buy the silicone paste stuff to put over where the end cap and muffler join? I figure regular silicone wouldn't work and you'd need some sort of high temp stuff. Bunnings? Supercheap? Bike shop? I never replaced the stuff on mine after repacking, but figure it's probably a good idea for keeping moisture out.

red stuff is high temp silicone have seen it at repco next to the gasket goo loctite etc and is probably at most places that sell car crap it also comes in other colours
