Last time I went the whole of the Waikaremoana Road was under at least 10 metres of snow which I soon ploughed a path thru on the mighty XT

I am keen to join you guys on this ride, it will be a solo effort though, me thinks the weather may be a deciding factor on pillion...

A good rider could do it on road tyres, there are no killer hills or anything, but given some of the roads get the odd muddy patch something at least slightly knobbly would be best. Maybe something like a Continental TKC80, Mitas EO-7 or Dunlop D605.
