    Pillion wanted in Tauranga...

    Hey!

Just thought I'd try posting here to see if there are any people in the Tauranga area that have been a pillion before.

I've been riding for over a year now (10+ months on a Virago 250, now it's a Shadow VT750) and have never had a pillion on the back but really want to learn.

So I'm just wondering if there are any people in the Tauranga area that would be keen to go on the back of my bike to help with this learning curve!

I've asked a couple people around work and there were no takers really (my riding isn't that dangerous!)

    Cheers,
    Tyron

You know, they're actually quite hard to find!

I've actually got this mouse trap setup in the garage to help out with that, but haven't had any real luck so far .

Make sure your volunteer has been pillion before or at least ridden a bike ....
last thing you want is someone trying to resist a lean over on the bike.....

or someone trying to lean the bike for you. susan was easily the worst pillion ive had. im quite capable of leaning without any help, and slowing for a set of lights is NOT the best time readjust your seating position.

Suggestion: Get some training before you take a pillion, or at least a briefing from an experienced rider on what to expect, because some things change. Even just loading your pillion on the the bike can be a fright if you don't know what to expect. And you really need to be ready for some other things, such as the pillion shifting their weight mid-corner, or even just wiggling to get comfy - the bike weaves around quite a lot and you need to expect it and counteract it.

I really enjoy taking passengers. Especially girls.

I refuse to take pillions. The girls can walk, I dont wanna ruin my bike cuz she decided to shift in the seat mid corner.

Well this is the other reason to get training - so you don't get a fright and vow to never do it again.

It's all completely workable, but you just have to back off from using all of your ability (so you have some up your sleeve) and brief your passenger properly, and know what to do when they wriggle, and have the brain-lock in check so you can act.

I was only kidding. I try to pull girls on my bike. But they just point and laugh.

Worst thing I had was a wiggling pillion. Next time my sister can walk to town.
