    Lost a mirror

on the old slab sided GSXR many moons ago. Was caning it a bit, didn't see anything just BANG, wobble, recover and no more mirror. Only knew it was a bird when I arrived at work and found feathers on what was left of the mirror mounts. Only cost around $30 for a replacement from memory...
    Where's that fucking spanner...

I almost took a bird out yesterday, it came close to being splattered all about the place. One of the guys we were riding with said he had had three near bird strikes on his way up to ours (blamed the colour of his bike). The most likely reason for the slow flying birds at the moment is it is cold, and they are not well fed and are hungry and weakened.

You just got to learn to duck

I dont think so. Insects, particularly stinging ones are attracted to colour.

I think these poor little birds are actually low blood sugar, low level navigationally/reactionally impaired at this time of the year is all.

Either that or it's cause of their small brains

i got knicked on the arm by a big hawk once at about 100. Scared me more than it hurt. However today i was splitting, maybe at 30 and a bloody dog on the tray of a kingcab ute leaned out and tried to bite me! I hit it in the head with my shoulder, then a millisecond later the second dog in the backseat came right out and got a smack in the face from my shoulder too! Bloody hurt but probably hurt the dogs more. Nasty bloody dogs though so didnt feel too bad for it.

    Dogs are quite dense...

Yep took one to the head once, ducked so the bird bounced off the the top of the helmet instead of going through the visor, so I guess I was lucky.
