    Snow up Takapari

    I'm in.....

edit: actually......I'd better run it past the missus first. Low on browny points again after the south island job.

would anyone be interested in a modified 'Barts Loop' - ride around the Ruahines - including Takapari and Gentle Annie but maybe heading out to the east coast for the loop back? - got to include Waitahora Rd and Towai Rd

maybe towards the end of the month (27th/28th?)

only Takapari Rd is a mild 4wd track - which is a dead end end anyway

the rest is all easy peasy gravel

Yes, I could reluctantly force myself along on this........
Like the sound of gravel roads = Dakar = comfortable seat, fairing and heated grips.

whats involved in changing the fork oil and what did you use?
I am going to use 10 weight fork oil, which is what the clymer manual says is the normal for the earlier model KLR's, On mind it is relativly easy to do, Just remove the drain screws at the bottom of the forkleg, drain the oil, remove front wheel, remove fork cap, pull spring out, replace drain screw, full compressed fork leg to correct level, reassemble. Although I haven't done mine yet, and I'll probably remove the fork legs, as I'm going to re-grease my steering head bearings as well. Thats because I stuffed the orginal ones in about 15,000km.

Yep I'm thinking about doing new fork springs for mine as well, they can make a great improvement.
